In English it sounds like it would be spelt WEE. My friend is looking for his grandparents that he never met and would like to find them but we need to start with how to spell the name

In Korean, like the person above wrote, what sounds like "wee" is spelled "위". I don't know if you know, but the young golf genius, Michelle Wie spells it "Wie". Your friend is probably not related to them though.

In Korea, there are only a few last names. For example, over 30% of Koreans have the last names Kim, Park, or Lee.

To make it an easier search, perhaps your friend knows where/what "Wie" it is? To identify where their last name roots are from, most Koreans add a regional name to their last name if someone asks. For example, when asked what "Kim" I was, I would say "I'm a Gyungju Kim" in Korean.

Hope that helps, good luck with everything~!

위, i'm sure your friend will find his grandparents pretty soon,
because there're not so many korean people that have 위 for
their last name =)

Good luck!
