Yes, a doctor can prescribe medication for him/herself, but any pharmacist filling the script will think twice and maybe even deny filling it depending upon the medication.

I'm sure they could however I'm told that it's not wise to treat yourself so what they do is they go to another doctor. In other words doctors will exchange services and treat each other's families.
