Malting is a process in which grains are allowed to germinate before they are dried in a kiln until most of the moisture is removed and they have been toasted to the degree of desired darkness. Most beer and malted milk powder is made with malted barley. Malted milk powder is not used to make beer and was originally intended to be a food for babies. It is a powder consisting of malted barley, wheat flour and milk.
Certain people seem to have barley confused with hops. Hops are a weed which grow in the wild and are used to give beer its bitterness.
