OUR CAT HAD KITTENS ABOUT 5 WEEKS AGO. EVERY TIME THEY GET NEAR AN ASHTRAY THAT HAS ANYTHING IN IT...THEY LICK THE ASHES! I DONT KNOW IF THEYRE LACKING IN SOMETHING OR IF THEY JUST LIKE THE TASTE OF ASHES. I MOVE THE TRAY AND THEY GET CRAZY TRYING TO FIND IT AGAIN. THEY JUST LOVE IT BUT IM SURE IT CANT BE GOOD FOR THEM TO EAT ASHES...ANY THOUGHTS ON THIS ONE?

When my cat Tinker was pregnant i noticed she kept getting her chin stained grey. Didnt know what it was at first but i caught her eating ash one day. I phoned the vet thinking she might do some damage and i was told that this is fairly common a bit like when women have strange coal cravings when pregnant. Its because the body thinks it needs a certain minaral or something from it. It doesnt, its a malfunction. Mabe this happens with kittens as well but kittens arte quite curious and eat anything in site so i dont really know

That sounds pretty odd, but I know there is also ash in some cat foods. If you haven't already started, try them on some Kitten Chow, moistened with a little bit of warm water and gradually decrease the water til they eat it dry. For all 5 to be doing it, they are lacking something in their diet. Good luck!

I'm not sure what would cause this, but your kittens have been licking toxins(the tobacco in the ashes, etc). Call your vet and get them in NOW!!!!!
