Have you ever looked better going in to the hair stylist than you did when you came out? ( And that's not a good thing.) I don't think there is a hair stylist anywhere than can style my hair. Does this happen to anyone else, or is it just me?

Happens to me all the time. I go to a salon to get my hair cut, then they insist on styling it. They use gel, wax, hairspray, and all sorts of junk that I dont want, and it looks like hell when I leave. I always wash my hair when I leave a salon because I hate what they have done to me.
I would rather do it myself anyway, so no, your not alone.

Happens to me and some of my friends.

Ask for reccomendations -- sometimes what a stylist will do is try to overdo the "styling" part (blowdrying, brushing, gel/spray) but give you a beautiful cut. If this is the case, get your hair cut and styled a day before any big event.

If you just want it styled, your best bet is yourself. You know your hair better than anyone else! Pick up some tips from magazines or online, depending on what style you want. If you have a hair iron and a hair drier, you can do most everything.

I'll bet your hair looks great anyway! :-)

a few times... i have wavy hair and the woman cut my hair so short on top i looked like a poodle. i did go to a new hair stylist, recommended by a friend, and she told me how to style it until my hair grew back.
but i have horror stories from inexpensive and expensive hair salons. i once paid almost $200 for a hair cut i hated. and this was a hair stylist on Madison Avenue, NYC. this salon does magazine covers all the time.
next time you are unhappy with your haircut, just go back and speak to the manager or owner and make them fix your hair.
nowadays i always bring a picture of the haircut I want. this has helped me get much better results.
good luck!

Yes, it does happen, and it's awful. If you are going to one of those cheap quick haircut places like BoRics or Supercuts, try an actual salon instead. When I quit going to the cheap places, I found that the slightly more expensive stylists at a salon have a LOT more training and can do a much better job on any type of hair. Good luck!

I think it has happened to all of us at one point or another. There was one time I asked a stylist to trim my bangs. She literally cut them off! My forehead was bare and I started crying. Needless to say that I never went back.

Some hair styles are hard to do if you do not do them often when you find one that is good with your hairstyle stay there. See someone whose hair looks good leaving salon ask who did it. good luck:-)
