KABUL, Afghanistan - Insurgents killed four U.S. soldiers and wounded three others in separate clashes in Afghanistan Saturday as the war-battered nation celebrated its independence day amid an upsurge in violence.

Three U.S. soldiers were killed and three others wounded during combat operations in Pech district of the eastern Kunar province, said Col. Tom Collins, the U.S. military spokesman. American troops in that area are hunting for Taliban fighters and in the process are getting a butt beating by rag tag insurgents who are fighting like they are in the flintstone era. The USA military are having a hard time even if they are the most powerful nation on earth.

WHAT IS THE SOURCE OF THIS?? I have searched EVERY apsect of this article and find NOTHING that matches anything in your story. I also checked with the DoD notices and there's nothing of this listed. Just in case you don't know it, they list EVERY action, death and so on that happens.

What? No way. WHen as soldier dies you are not to be ashamed of him, but proud. Proud that he is out there fighting for our lazy asses, keeping us safe and alive. Every troop contributes to the cause, and we can too. All we have to do is give love and support to them. Stop acting like what they are doing is wrong and wretched because that is what kills them. It puts them down, makes them feel like the people they are fighting for don't care about them. No. They should be proud of doing their job to the best of their ability. And we should be proud of them for doing their job.

The hardest kind of warfare is against guerrillas. Fighting someone on their home turf, someone who can hide for days or weeks, and who can blend in with the local populace.

That's exactly how the United States won its revolutionary war. Guerrilla tactics. Because they work.

It doesn't matter how large the US military is. Having 100,000 troops somewhere else does absolutely nothing for those ten men on the ground, being shot at from ambush.

I'm going to leave it at that, before suggesting that you pick up a rifle if you think you can do better.

The US military has alot they SHOULD be ashamed for. But they never will show the slightest bit. That would be counter productive to the face of their goals. Our actions have made dangerous and even moderate groups far more dnagerous through their growing hatred of our society and leaders as a whole. Basicly its a f uk d situation. If we remove the pressure from these groups they dominate their own people and target others like us. By keeping the pressure on they grow biiter. the bitterness stays for generation.
