I'm a doctor working in emergency and see sick people all the time, but I don't catch colds more often than an average person. I wash hands after each and every patient. If they cough, I try not to inhale. If I get splashed with their saliva or whatever, i wash. The secret is frequent hand washing, throat gargling, looking after yourself, sleep well, eat well, exercise regularly, don't smoke, don't drink too much.
