I have a 3 yr old daughter that loves puzzles and a one yr old that loves messes. The puzzles are always strewn across the room, and I want to contain them. I want something that is harder for my one yr old. Is there anything that can do the job?

My son also loves puzzzles and has them strung all over the place. I took ziploc bags and put each puzzle in it's own bag. Then I cut the picture of the puzzle off of the box and put it in the bag as well, that way we know which one goes with which one and what they are supposed to look like. WE keep them all in a large gift bag in the corner of the room out of the way. If you have those hard back puzzles, then number each puzzle back and it's pieces. That way when they get taken apart, clean up is fast and easy...and it will teach your kids their numbers.

My 2 year old son loves puzzles and my six month old loves to chew on puzzles so I know where you are coming from.

I keep mine up on a shelf in a cute basket, and when he wants to play with them he just asks me to get them down. I only let him have a few at a time then he puts them together and asks for a few more when he finishes. Has always worked for us!

Good luck!

i bought a rubbermaid bin too.

the puzzles are all stored in there and the lid is actually a little hard for toddlers to get open. she has to ask me to help her. which i like because i can play with her and as her interest fades, i encourage her to clean up. i tell her she can't play with anything else until she cleans up. this has worked out great so I have used this same scenario with other toys... like play food, the toy animals from the a-z zoo. the crayons and art tools. i find that the play that would get really messy is always supervised this way.

she is actually quite used to the routine of picking up the blocks, toy cars etc...

good luck to you and I hope this might help you. i know how frustrating it can be to pick up the same toys multiple times every day!!

Tupperware, or old ice cream , plastic containers, with close fitting lids, stick the picture from the puzzle box onto the outside.

buy a bunch of small stackable plastic rubbermaid boxes. cut the picture of what the puzzle is supposed to look like and tape it on the top or side. they stack really easy in the top of a closet and the would be harder for little ones to open.

Those clear plastic containers from Walmart, they make some that go under the bed too. Very neat, and the one year old won't be able to open them.
