Because we like to fry cheap meat. It only tastes good fried. Texans dont fry ribeyes=to answer the other guy.
I worked in a restaurant a long time that catered mainly to tourists. It was a steakhouse and we featured chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken. The worst was explaining that CFS was meat fried like fried chicken and that CFC was boneless chicken breast fried like CFS and that fried chicken was just fried chicken. Talk about confused tourists!

It's a southern thing, much like iced-tea and bare feet.
You wouldn't ask for Gellato in Texas, now, would you?
But you probably also wouldn't ask for Chicken Fried Steak in Italy.
Cultural differences that just so happen to be geographical ones as well. =)

i'm from the mid-west, and grew up on "chicken fried steak" (cubed steak) it was not called chicken fried steak in my era, just cubed steak, where you dredge it in egg and then flour, then fry it up. then, of course, add gravy...totally yum factor here...

We do here on the west coast, but what about the gravy? do you prefer a basic milk gravy or country gravy with sausage and onions?
And besides if it was actually made with chicken it would be chicken fried chicken.
CFS yum! its for breakfast and dinner

i'm with you - i flow for them both. yet when I had to verify one or the different, i might want to prolly opt for Southern Fried fowl carried out staggering and crispy. The Colonel does a touch dang solid interest with it, even if it truly is nevertheless not as solid as my ol' Granny used to make. for sure, y'won't be able to good have that fowl without corn on the cob, mashed 'taters, and warm buttermilk biscuits.
