Read the Bible...King David fought in wars. Sometimes God was on his side, sometimes he wasn't. In my mind it's not the cause the justifies God's presence, it's the motive, the thoughts and attitude of the heart. Look at the Civil War..both sides believed God was with them...Strange.

I would have to say He would only side with the one who is defending their nation or freedom. Not the attacker. If both are equally in the wrong then nobody.
