Theologically speaking, sin is not something we do, it is something we ARE. I can't give a full explanation here but we are all basically predisposed to sin. That is, sin is in our nature, our DNA.
As a Christian the only way to deal with that sin is through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. This is the only way that forgiveness is possible.
Nearly everyone makes the mistake of thinking about sin as either 'act' (something I do) or 'omission' (something I don't do that I should). The problem with that view is that you never get done trying to be perfect. Once you accept that you cannot do anything to make you righteous before God it makes life a lot easier (not that you can then do anything you like but you don't have to spend your life feeling guilty).
The bible says we are "Justified (made righteous before God) by faith alone"
There's a lot more to say but hope this helps.

As a Mormon. A sin is breaking any of the Ten Commandents. Breaking any of the Covennents that I entered into at Baptism. To not follow the revellations given by the living Prophet Gordon B Hinckley. Also to not live life according to the Gospel. Not pay a full tithing and not obey the words of wisdom. For neglecting all that has benn mentioned would surely see my life blessfully ignored.
It's never to late stop sinning......because after all, we areall sinners . And as there is no such thing as a perfect person, there is such a perferct God and he so aloves us all. John 3:16

I think the best way to debate that one is to look a whether the actions of the person involved are intended to be evil or purposefully cause detriment to the other person. I think that is really what a sin is, when someone is hell-bent on wishing the absolute or doing the absolute worst to someone. I am not religious, but I am very spiritual and I hold humanitarian beliefs.

What is considered a sin varies greatly depending upon your faith. Christians hold any breach of the Commandments as been a sin. There also appears to be 2 types of sins; sins of commision (sin caused by your actions) and sins of ommision(sins arising due to due to your inactions).
In Islam (which I am not too familliar with) - there are the 7 Pillars of Faith and any breach of these pillars is considered, I understand, to be a sin. In Islam, the greatest sin appears to be that of associating a partner with God.
Hope that helps!

A sin to me, is doing something that you KNOW that you shouldn't be doing, but do it anyway.
A sin is a bad action, but therefore all sins can be forgiven if you just pray and ask...but only will be forgiven if you mean it. God can tell.
The only sin that won't be forgiven is blasphemy. And that's just dissing the father, the son, and the holy ghost.

Sin is disobedience to, or rebellion against, God's will.
The original sin was Adam and Eve's disobedience in the garden of Eden. They had a perfect place to live, in harmony with God, with just one rule - don't eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. They disobeyed.
All sin is fundemantally disobedience - since we are desended from Adam and Eve, and are 'fallen', we cannot help sinning.
Fortunately God sent Jesus to pay the penalty for our sin.

A sin is committed when you are going against your religion and your beliefs, which we do daily without realising. I am a muslim, it says in the books that everytime we sin a little black dot appears on our hearts, to remove that we have to repent and never do it again, but sometimes it can't be helped, we call it gunnah

It is said in the bible that eating shrimp is a sin. And sitting on the same bed as a woman during her period is a sin. So you tell me, are either of those things bad? Don't worry about sin. God doesn't.
