Good for you. I have been homeschooling for 14 years. My oldest one is in college now. By the way, it is not difficult for an exclusively homeschooled person to get into college. I still have 3 in school. You can email me if you have questions.

I think there are many different school options that can work well for kids. If homeschooling works for your family, more power to you!
I understand that home schooled kids do at least as well as others on college admissions. Is this true?
I'm not a parent or teacher, so my opinion doesn't count for much, but you have my encouragement, for what it is worth.

Its great but can be frustrating. The first years were the hardest. We are now using switched on schoolhouse which has been a blessing. It utilizes your computer for their work and it even grades them. The other programas we used had books and papers all over the house. And tests never seemed to get graded. Switched on school house is very inexpensive compared to other homeschooling programs. I suggest looking them online. Homeschooling is great though and you can be flexible on when things need to get done.

Being a teacher I have my own feelings regarding home schooling. There are two big reasons why I am not for home schooling. First, kids that are home schooled, from what I have noticed, do not have the same social skills as those that go to school (public or private). Secondly, I have had students come to me after being home schooled and they are not always at grade level. Even though I have a cluster of students will learning differences, they have an IEP (Individual Education Plan) which states the special services that they need. The student that is not at grade level after being home schooled does not have an IEP to help them out. All teachers teach to all levels, but you will need to understand that it COULD be harder for your kids.

Good luck with it and I hope it works out well for you and your kids.

I think it's great...I've found that homeschooled kids are smarter and more well adjusted than public school. Just make sure they have some sort of social outlet, like church.

No one except a home school parent is going to agree with you so why ask? You are doing it, so just do it.

BTW, some pretty prestigious universities (big 10) are offering scholarships to attract home schooled children. They have found that they are usually more mature, focused and advanced academically.

I think it is a bad idea, especially for little kids. They need to be away from their mother at this time and they need to interact with other children. They need to see that part of life. Homeschooling is fine for older children as long as they don't want to make any friends, but for little children, it is a bad idea...

I was homeschooled for a while, and it isn't that much fun. No one to play with or talk to other than (no offense) your family. It got old quickly. Now I am back in a regular school and it is much better. ;)

Unless your a certified teacher, then I think its unfair to your children, especially considering how much they would benefit from being around other kids in a school environment.

i personally do not care for the home schooling. the child is never around other kids his age. kids need that sort of thing. the kids will never know how to function in life around other, because he was never put around others when he was young. it is easier to teach a child things, like associating with others when they are young.
