I'm sick and tired of christians butting in on peoples ways of life and telling them its wrong. Its not your place to judge and what gives you the right? In terms of magic and witch craft why do you feel the need to persecute others? I'm also sick and tired of reading bible quotes from people telling others their going to hell. I especially hate it when someone gives this kind of imput to someone who didn't ask for it to begin with. Christ can perform "miracles" and yet any person the slightest bit interested in magic is evil? This is just SO annoying having to deal with these people and their stereotypes, also they can never take criticism of their own faith but can openly mok others. Greater gods have been slained in the name of a great hypocritical god that does not exist....... (sorry for ranting)

sorry all, forgot to mention that I am a Satanist and it was christianity that drove me to a godless state of life. I couldn't believe in a god who lets others sin or commit hypocrisy (even murder) in his name. Unfortunately my entire point is made all over again by some of the pathetic answers that lie herewithin. AND on the note that I DID make a generalization I agree entirely and apologoize, I thought it would be understood that I didn't direct this towards the WHOLE of christianty but those who do commit this. I would actually like to talk to some of you personally...

I don't appreciate your generalizing about Christians but I do understand your frustration and your point. I am a Catholic Christian. In your anger and frustration, you are striking out at an entire group of people and that is wrong, regardless of which side of the God issue it comes from. We are ALL not to judge others, stereotype them, criticize them as a group, whether it be a racial group, religious, group, etc. We ALL need to learn to look at other human beings as individual persons. I know, easier said than done but the generalizing, no matter who it is done by, only spreads more intolerance toward others of a certain group. I can honestly say to you, I have learned through my Catholic faith to look at others and see Jesus in them and I do not always do it perfectly either, but I try. I have also learned to separate the person from the action so if I speak out on a moral issue and condemn the practice of homosexuality, I am not condemming the individual person, just the sin being committed. Too many people identify with a group or cause and ignore their own personhood. I am a Catholic, yes but first and foremost, I am a person, a unique creation of God and I know not everyone will agree with me but thats okay. Don't hate me for being Catholic, just hate me if you choose for being a bad person or accept me for being a good person, all labels aside. My wish for you and for all others out here is that you can learn to do the same with all others as individuals.

Christians tend to be rude when they don't even mean to be. It's funny how christian rhetoric seems to be elitist by definition, even when it's meant in a positive way. Here are a few examples.

I was watching a show about 9/11 last night and there was a story of a fire fighter who was almost killed in the collapse and his wife who worked on one of the high floors of the building. In the end they both survived and found each other and the wife says this in an interview:

"...It was like god gave us a new birthday."

In and of itself this seems harmless... but when you really think about what she's saying it becomes a very selfish statement. Their "god" saved THEM but let over 2000 others die. What makes her and her husband so special that god would pay attention to them and forsake thousands more.

Then there are the people who will tell you that god is responsible for all good and no evil... I had a chat with a fellow Y!A user the other day. Her answer to my "where is god when..." question contained this nugget amongst the name calling:

"I lived through Hurricane Katrina and I saw what God was doing after the devastation of that natural disaster. He sent people from all over the country to help the ones who lost everything."

This statement nullifies the good deeds of those who came to help her. She should be thanking the individuals that helped her after this ordeal, they sacrificed their time, money, and energy to help perfect strangers... they didn't do so because god made them, they did it because it's what they would hope others would do if they were in that situation. Instead she thanks her imaginary friend god and fails to realize the sacrifices of the ones who really deserve the credit.

There are literally hundreds of examples of this kind of thing ("I'll pray for you, I'm trying to 'save' you...) but I'll leave it at this.

While there is a percentage of Christians who do this, I would venture to say the majority don't. However, it's the noisy ones who get your attention and then taint everyone's view on Christianity.

However, I have spent time as an athiest and a pagan and I was actually much more ignorant, insensitive and rude towards Christians when I was than I am now that I am a Christian towards others.

It seems like your comment should be directed towards certain Christians and not us all. I have no problem with you practicing any religion of your choosing.

It isn't only Christians, and while Christians aren't perfect, I really think it's only a small percentage of real Christians who act like that. Even if I don't agree with what you believe, I respect you as a person and your right to believe differently. I will never try to "force" my belief on anyone, but I will willingly discuss it with anyone who will listen. I have as much of a right to share my opinion as anyone else, but if you don't want to read it here, skip over it like I do when a question offends me. But since this is the "religion and spirituality" category, that will be discussed here, hopefully without rudeness and insensitivity on anyone's part. But since that is one thing most people feel passionately about on both sides, there will be a lot of disagreement. That's my rant:)

I too am sorry that you're offended. I am Roman Catholic, but I don't believe that if your religion or beliefs are different than mine, you will go to hell. That's unfortunate that some people are so narrow minded and mean. If I were not a Christian and I came into contact with someone that was like that, I wouldn't want any part of Christianity. Just smile at those people and say to yourself, "what an a**hole !!!

You know, as for people who write "God is love" and "Jesus loves you" to just about any question, no matter what it is, this is an idiosynchrosy (sp?) of human beings in general, not just of Christians. Human beings, for the most part, don't know how to because they DON'T LISTEN. I work with the public, have done so for most of my adult life. Whenever I ask even a very straightforward question, they almost answer it. They answer it with information that I did not ask for.

Example:
Q: What is the nearest crossing street to your address?
A: You make a left on Market St, then after the doughnut shop you make a right at the 2nd light, then another right on the first small street.

G*ddamn, that's so freakin' ANNOYING!!! Did I ask for directions? <<>>, I asked for the NEAREST CROSSING STREET. NOT the nearest crossing street, not a nearby major intersection, but the NEAREST CROSSING STREET. PERIOD. Doesn't matter if it's a small street, just gimme the nearest crossing one, already! Answer the , is that too hard to do? "Just the facts, ma'am."

Sorry, I was ranting too. The public is maddening.

People, religious and secular, don't always pay attention because they don't listen. Filter them out, that's all you can do.

You know what I am sick and tired of? People making generalizations about a certain group of people because of how some specific people act. I can understand being upset with some people, because, yes, it's true, there are some Christians that are not nice people. Aren't we all imperfect? Please don't judge a group by the mistakes of individuals. It's not like Christians are encouraged to judge others and all that, at least, not in my experience. I'm sorry your experience with Christians has been so bad.

If you are sick and in the hospital.
The Doctor comes and tells you that in order to save your life, you need surgery. If you have it you will live a normal healthy life once again. Without it you would die?
Would you choose the surgery even though you had a long, painful recovery?
Would you choose Life?
Satan started this process in the Garden of Eden when he introduced the first lie, and maliciously slandered Our God and Creator.
Since it is Gods purpose to have humans here on earth Psalms 37:29, do you think that he may want you here, on earth, alive to wittiness His vindication against Satan and his demons, not to mention all those who refuse to serve him? Deuteronomy 11;16-23; :25-28; :32
As Joshua of old said to the ancient Israelites, "As for me and my household, we shall serve Jehovah." Joshua 24:15
You may wish to read the 23rd and 24th chapters of Joshua, compare them today with how we should act, and then, look at yourself in the mirror, and ask yourself what you could do to put you in line for life forever with God and Christ in his earthly kingdom. Matthew 5:1-12

I'm sorry you feel this way. However, it does sound like you're doing some stereotyping yourself. I, as a Christian, try not to mock people, openly or otherwise. I also try not to judge others, although I do stand up for what I believe is right. I'm not perfect; I make mistakes too. What people believe is between them and God. I am not their judge, he is.
