Well, there are a number of steps you need to take. First, you need to know what file extension your movie is saved in. Standalone DVD players usually only support the MPEG-2 standard. For example, the DVD movies you rent from your local blockbuster use the MPEG-2 standard. DVD drives on computer do not have this constraint; they can play .avi, mpeg-4, divx, quicktime, realplayer....etc. Therefore, there is a chance you need to convert the files first. A good program to use is ConvertXtoDVD (http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/)

Second, you need burning software. The software records the video files on to a DVD. I am a video enthusiast and I have yet to find a good free burning software. However, Nero offers a 30 day trial period to test their software. You can use it before deciding if you want to purchase it. The two most popular video software suite is Nero and Roxio each of which cost roughly $100 USD. You can download and try Nero at: http://www.filehippo.com/software/dvd/

Finally, you will need some instructions to do all of this. Thankfully, thereare two website loaded with guides:

1. Video help http://www.videohelp.com/dvdbackup
2. Afterdawn http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/

You will need a DVD burner. Also, is the movie already on your computer? You will also need the software to burn the movie onto the DVD. The burner should come with some software.

If the movie is still on your camera, you will need to transfer the movie from the camera to the computer. Usually requires a firewire or USB cable and the appropriate software.

Need more information.
