when you're dying for a *** and really cant get any, do you ever scrabble for long-ish butts in the ash tray and smoke them? I feel dirty and ashamed, please tell me i'm not alone!!!

Ok, OK, you caught me out. Give me a break already!
I have done it, and I feel ashamed. In fact, when we were kids, my sister and I used to roam the market place for discarded cigarette ends, which we then used to smoke with relish.
And, no, you are not alone!

actually, it isn't rude, a "f a g" is an old name for a cigarette. Just as a "f a g g o t", by definition is a bundle of sticks.
And I can't say I've ever done that. Probably because I squeeze all of the remaining tobacco out of my butts before I put them in my ashtray.
I can't believe I just got those two words censored. They are legitimate terms, not dealing with the slang, offensive terms for homosexuals.

i think i can only now say this but when i was around 12 i used when really desprate and when i had no way of getting any i smoke what i could incluing one i found on the streets. they always taste foul and i am a proud non smoker i stop by going cold turkey .i can see how dirty i was but i think has long has it is your own one it is fine it is a good way for a quick fix.

The americans must be mind boggled when they hear that we smoke f a g s! Does this mean we blow them away, or is it a euphamism for suck, dont blow, or do we roll em and smoke em? Imagine yahoo having a british site without catering for our british speech foibles! DISCRIMINATION! Can I report yahoo for abuse lol?
And the answer to your Q is yes, i used to, but now i take two out of every pack and pop them into a drawer, so when i run out i have a ready made stash. This works a treat.

Yes I do as well. I have been known to go out to my car in the pouring rain and check the ashtray there as well. Or I nick some of my old mans tobacco and roll one - don't know which is worse. Anyone fancy joining me for a serious go at quitting? We could support each other by email.

Yes, I've done that. But only when I'm absolutely desperate for nicotine and don't have the cash to buy a pack of smokes.
By the way, "f a g" is a slang term for a homosexual in America.
Here, we just say "cigarette" or "smoke."

Oh dear I have done it lots of times and now when I think about it I feel pretty disgusted about it, but only a smoker knows how desperate you get when you have no ciggies and that basically you will smoke rolled up newspaper at that point.

oh thank god i am not alone, me and my (now ex) boyfriend used to do this when we were 16 and couldn't afford or had run out of fags, we would hunt through his mums' ash tray and i admit if i have run out, i still do it, i am lucky tho, i smoke superkings so my butts tend to be abit longer than the average ***. no sweetie, you most defiantly ain't alone.

Been a non smoker for a year now, but yes I did used to do it.
I would keep *** papers and make up fags with ends!!

I used to many moons ago, even emptied out old ciggies and made a new one with some papers! How unhealthy was that!
Also remember going out at midnight to a cigarette machine, so that I had one for the morning!
