You don't say how long you have been in this relationship. People can pretend to be someone they are not for quite a long time. Then when they have accomplished the goal of getting into a relationship, they relax and the "real person" they are comes out.
Try talking to him. Find out if something is going on in his life that may have altered his personality or mood. If it is (to you) a valid reason for the altered behavior that you think will pass, then by all means support him through it.
It could just be that you read a lot into the guy that was not there. Women tend to do this. We "interpret" what a person "really" means when they are being quite blunt about something. Open your eyes a bit and see if you saw signs that the person you are now seeing was there all along. Then act accordingly.
Be honest with yourself. Good luck.

Reflect on yourself before you come up with that issue to discuss with him. It's very important that you're absolutely sure on your own feelings before you bring that subject with him because no matter how you deliver the message,it's going to be received strongly and yes,it will hurt him really deep. You can't afford to let him down for something you aren't certain about,it could just be a case of here today, gone tomorrow feeling so think twice of your actions before you rush on things and be very sorry later on.
It's a possibility that everything just dropped to your idealism that the luster and challenges had just run way too familiar in your relationship with him that you sort of got bored so spice it up a little.Little surprises come in the corners so don't shock him by saying it's over when you aren't definite...yet.
Know your own truth before you try to sell that to him.
all the best.

I just broke up with my gf, something happened and it altered the relationshit. We would always get into arguments. If he has changed, like most younge people do, then you have to talk to him, like what has made the change, and can you live with it, if you cant, im sorry to say, but it could end up like what happened to me. Try not to get hurt.
