you can buy window tint from Wal Mart in the auto section that will block most of it without anyone noticing it you cut it to the size of the window and you apply it to a clean damp window. You can also get roller shades and paint them. The paint makes the shades darker as well as you can decorate them to match the room.

There are things called window films that block out the harsh rays of the sunlight. They are called window films, you can see them at www.homedepot.ca just search for "window films" in their search field.

However if you completly want to block out the light, you best bet would be either black out curtains, or you could getting a painting canvas in the size of your window and then paint something on it.. that should block out the light completely.

How about heavy fabric that you can pick up at sewing stores? Some are very pretty. You could cover your windows with it, and then maybe even make a border around the room & decorate the room accordingly to create atmosphere too.

You can use window blinds(vertical or horizontal), room darkening shades or lined curtains to block sunlight from a window.

Try Painting a scene w/ art paints. Use a neutral base color so the outside view don't looK bad. This also looks cool when the light causes the colors to shadow its affects of your design or pattern. But if you want it Blacked out ,than base coat it Dark in color!

or

Wrapping Paper w/ two sides looks ok too.

GOOD LUCK!!

Well...we've done several things. You can buy dark colored blinds, something that will compliment the colors in your room. You can hang a sheet over your window. Or...the last thing we've done is we bought window tint from Walmart that you put on car windows and cut it to fit our bedroom window. Works great! : )
Good luck.

Try black out fabric. It's the same thing used to make curtains in hotel rooms, so the sun doesn't shine in.
