Well you're homesick and suffering a lot of anxiety as a result. Call your parents and tell them what's going on. They can provide reassurance that you will be okay, that this is just a temporary time of adjustment. College is a BIG adjustment, and it's going to be tough for awhile, but you're not alone. A lot of other kids are having the same feeling as you. Have you seen your advisor yet? Tell him/her your concerns, they've seen and heard it all. Between your parents and resources on campus (psychological services, there also to give you support) you can push through this, and be okay. The first semester is the toughest. Hang in there.

This sounds totally, totally normal. It is a really big transition going from home, with your family, to a place far away with a bunch of strangers. The only way to cure it is time. Soon, the strangers won't be strange anymore, and they will become like brothers and sisters. Your room will stop looking like an alien planet to you. The schedule will begin to flow, and your appetite will return to normal (although dorm food will never taste like home cooking).
I think everyone questions their decision to move away to college during those first few weeks. Just endure the miserableness for a while to see if it starts to subside. Also, go home this weekend if you can. You'd be surprised at how well a quick weekend back home can make you feel better, and ready to face another week at school.

First, there is NOTHING wrong with the JC by your parents house. Face it, there is "no place like home." Unless your parents believe in the movie "failure to launch." Then, problem!!
If you do not like the "going alone" of a distance college, then talk to your parents and move back home. College is college, near or far. All that matters is that you graduate.
PS Good luck with your courses and degree.

I know when I first started college, I got sick too. At first it was nerves and when I did nothing about it, it got worse. So, I went to the doctor. He said it was a sinus infection, and probably just a little depression. Don't give up. At least stick it out through the first semester. It takes that long to become accustomed to the life change.

You gotta stick it out for a couple of weeks...It will get easier I promise...fortunately I had no probs adjusting to college life but my sister did. My advice...don't go home for at least 2 weeks. Stay up there and make friends so you can get adjusted. the nausea is prob your nerves...you can go to the campus dr and they can give you something for that or just take dramamine.

i think you (your mind, your psiquis, your body) are adapting to a new environment.
try to hang on a few days, it will pass :)
try to find something you like, to do.
lookup here, some wonderfull photographs, if you like visual beauty: www.photo.net
get something to read, in a calmed environment.
try to get something "simple" to eat, at first, fruit, juice, begin slowly.
it's all about anxiety for confronting a new situation.
