It could be a short time or never. It depends on what rating the enlistee gets, so how long their schooling is. Then after that it depends on what ship he/she is sent to. The ship may not be scheduled for deployment for 16 months, or it could already be overseas. There is really no way to tell. Sorry I could not be more specific.

vbplr_12 - The Army isn't the only branch mainly fighting in the war. The AF is right there taking up the slack as well. ALL branches are leading the fight. The Army just stays deployed longer - which is changing.

Yes you would still take action in the war. Navy ships are used to bombard from see, or you may be onboard a carrier in which case you will almost definately be in the war.

it is mainly army and marines but there are a lot of other branch members there, also. my husband is a SeaBee (Construction Battalion) and he was Iraq & Kuwait and has also been in Afghanistan. If you are in the Navy you will be deployed regardless, it just depends on where they need you most.

Unless you're military police or a seabee you'll be on a ship the whole time, so don't worry about it. The Army is leading the way in Iraq.

Do you have loved one you are bothered about?

Wish and pray that all the wars come to an end and no one ever gets hurt.

Incase, you know someone in navy, try and become his/her strength.

I don't know the exact answer to your question though. Sorry!

On land? None. Navy just bobs around in the ocean, their carrier pilots do the work.
