Depends what is Point A and what is Point B. If your going to be going crosstown (from the East side to the West side) take the bus. If your going a long distance or if there is a lot of traffic, I would take the subway. If its a nice day, I would opt for walking because you get to see a lot more of the city and probably check out things you wouldn't normally see. Def get a metrocard with at least $25 but you shouldn't need more.

No reason to be frightened; enormous apple city is a mystical place, we've been there two times and would't wait to pass to lower back. a million. See a Broadway play 2. Cheesecake at Artie's Diner (it rather is the terrific) 3. Zabar's food market (a similar one in "you have have been given Mail") 4. H & H Bagels 5. Empire State development (you could pass the enormous line via paying for and show bypass, it expenses greater, yet you get the vip medical care via happening to the very authentic without waiting and you get to pass down without waiting the two) 6. floor 0 7. economic District - many historic homes 8. walk and take the subway (it rather is exciting, much less high priced and secure) 9. keep 10. consume (the terrific food interior the international) you're soooo fortunate, desire i replaced into going! *D*

We have found that this site: http://www.hopstop.com/?city=newyork

is a very handy for figuring out how to get around on public transportation.

When you are in the planning stages, you can use it to see how close the subway or bus lines run to the places you plan to visit.

For a day trip, if you are going to be moving around town a lot, get a 1 day, unlimited ride metro card for $7.

The subway is a good way to get around from N-S, but if you're going cross-town, you may want to catch the odd bus here and there... all depends what you're doing and how quickly you want to get it done. Although I do agree with the first answer... "just walk". It's the best way to see the city.

TAKE THE SUBWAY! The bus will take forever if you are going long distances since they stop at like every corner. Have fun!

The subway is MUCH faster - but if you want to SEE everything take the bus - so you'll be above ground.

Subway, it's faster and you can walk whatever distance you have to make up. Or if you want to experience it the way normal New Yorkers do it, just walk the whole way.
