Yeah, I totally understand what you mean by your question. My dad is a muslim, my mom is a christian while am not a very devoted believer. In my family I have learnt that we have to respect each religion even if we don't agree with it.

No one gives me the power to judge. Obviously, people have yet to learn that...

The problem with religion is not God.Its when man decides to make the rules for God.Im a christian, but after travelling a lot and living in different cultures i began to realise that peoples religion is mainly a function of their social upbringing and geography. And i wouldnt blame anyone for believing something different.I always say if God exists then we dont need to be the ones doing the proof for him if he is as great as we say he is.Isometimes find that we reduce him to be so weak when we have to defend him and bash other religions in the process.People do it because they are insecure in their religious beliefs and the best thing is to open your mind and see whats out there then ask God to help you make sense of it

This and all the other questions regarding Religion only highlight the rotten pit of misery which millions find themselves immersed in , Bigotry ,Spite , Jealousy being Judgemental ,Superior to others, living unnatural lives under supression from demented clerics who claim to have unique access to God , continually telling the world that everyone is "unworthy" and a "sinner" wanting to control all that they come into contact with == "In your Head , in your Pocket and in your Bed" just about sums up this Bloody misery making cancer which covers the world , whatever Religion you are unfortunate to get embroiled in , in my humble opinion the further away from me the better - this doesn,t stop me in any way from doing my best for and treating humanity with respect and kindness wherever possible , without having to demonstrate what a wonderfull person I am . I just celebrate the fact that I am free from Destroying my life by being imprisoned by a load of bloody Misery

It does not matter how we believe as long as we believe in the one Truine God, and some people find that hard to believe. I respect Catholic Churchs they don't care what religion you are, I respect the Lutherans they are religion that supports unity like a big family of Christians, I respect the Methodists they teach in a way that is pretty much tying everything together in the world, and I respect the people that don't have a certain religion all they need is a bible and prayer.

You find that when you think people are bashing your religion (Chritsianity in this case) in reality it is not the religion people are bashing, but the self-righteous bigotted A-holes who pretend to be Christians. I have to say that the worst christians I have ever met are the ones running around telling everyone how christian they are

I'm a pagan, and i never disrespect other peoples religions, i feel that everyone has their own path to follow. However, i think that those that don't have enough faith, who can't feel god/goddess, doubt what they want to believe is true. Therefore to justify their belief they have to bash other peoples religions, to convert others to their faith, and in doing that they feel they are doing something to aid their religion, where instead they are only harming it.

Right on, friend. Religion is a matter of personal choice, and if someone doesn't like it - tough! It is their right, even if some people regard it as the wrong religion. I am a Christian, but if I decided to become a Buddhist, so what? My friends would probably regard me as cracked, but they would respect my choice. Someone once said something like, "I do not agree with your opinions, sir, but I shall defend to the death your right to express them." Go well, and God Bless!

It depends on their level of narcissism. They believe they are right, and they believe that opposing beliefs threaten the righteousness of theirs. They see difference as a challenge to their beliefs. They try to convince other their view is right, or tear them down in attempt to further justify their own position. They refuse to accept the possibility that there may be another way, or that another way may be "more right" than theirs. Respect for, tolerance of, and acceptance of diversity are not typically characteristics of those who promote "blind faith". Congratulations to you! You must have a great deal of empathy. That is very attractive.... :-)

By and large, clergy and strong believers of revealed religions consider that they have the sole key to Heaven. This promotes a certain arrogance. (Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, Zoroastrians and Sikhs don't seem to have this syndrome.)

I need only add that Bailey Smith (then Chairman of the Southern Baptist Convention) once famously said, "God does not hear the prayer of a Jew". (Really? Jesus was a Jew.)

Modern and 'liberal" religions tend not to claim exclusivity, and to seek ecumenical cooperation.
