I think the protestants would more likely do that and I'd go hide in a cave.

I would know that as I offered my prayers through Mother Mary, that still I am Pagan in my heart, and that the laws of God,dess are higher than that of man. And in my heart, I would still be worshipping the deities I do today. Catholicism is very pagan.
Been put through Catholic School. Am happy Wiccan. Can adapt to my surroundings. At least I would still have my right to light a candle....
And who wouldn't want to be forced to take a day of rest? In these times, there is not enough rest. Work work work, pay the bills. I think the majority of us are serving the Money God. tisk tisk tisk.
Blessed Be.

I am Catholic, but I do know that mixing religion and state is definitely NOT a good thing. History tells of great horrors when this happens. Take a look at the Middle East, right now. No, despite my faith, I think it would be a horrible thing for Catholicism to dominate our country. It would become a corrupt religion, inevitably, and I would never want such a fate for my faith. I, too, would probably protest and move out of the country.

It's not the Catholics we need to fear at this point. Remember that the Born Again Christian president claimed he was chosen by God to hold that office. These are the people we need to be aware of.

Do you know that they have Christian book fairs in federal buildings? A year ago, I saw one in the lobby of 201 Varick St in NY. I was shocked and horrified that this would be allowed. Now imagine if a Muslim group had wanted to do the same thing.

Move to Australia or New Zealand... and it might not be that long, either. Christian 'Dominionists' (Reconstructionalists, Theonomists) have largely usurped the local level political apparatus of the Republican Party, and are engaged in a sub rosa process to politically motivate moderate Christians under the false cover of religious issues such as morality and family values. The goal is nothing less than the takeover of all elective offices in the USA.

Their doctrine comes from the Bible, starting with the term 'dominion' at Genesis 1:28... “And God said unto them, [Adam and Eve] Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have DOMINION… over every living thing.” They interpret DOMINION as: “... a supremacy in determining and directing the actions of others or in governing politically, socially, or personally.”

They want to remake the USA as a theocracy... and they are succeeding.

Its most common form, Dominionism, represents one of the most extreme forms of Fundamentalist Christianity thought. Its followers, called Dominionists, are attempting to convert the laws of United States so that they match those of the Hebrew Scriptures. They intend to achieve this by using the freedom of religion in the US to train a generation of children via home-schooling and in private Christian religious schools. Later, their graduates will be charged with the responsibility of creating a new Bible-based political, religious and social order. One of the first tasks of this order will be to eliminate religious choice and freedom. Their eventual goal is to achieve the "Kingdom of God" in which much of the world is converted to Christianity. They feel that the power of God's word will bring about this conversion. No armed force or insurrection will be needed; in fact, they believe that there will be little opposition to their plan. People will willingly accept it. All that needs to be done is to properly explain it to them.

All religious organizations, congregations etc. other than strictly Fundamentalist Christianity would be suppressed. Nonconforming Evangelical, main line and liberal Christian religious institutions would no longer be allowed to hold services, organize, proselytize, etc. Society would revert to the laws and punishments of the Hebrew Scriptures. Any person who advocated or practiced other religious beliefs outside of their home would be tried for idolatry and executed. Blasphemy, adultery and homosexual behavior would be criminalized; those found guilty would also be executed. There are two conservative Christian pastors in Texas who have advocated the execution of all Wiccans. Ralph Reed, the executive director of the conservative public policy group the Christian Coalition has criticized Reconstructionism as "an authoritarian ideology that threatens the most basic civil liberties of a free and democratic society."

By failing to openly confront this insidious agenda, we have sown the seeds of our own destruction, while these religious wing-nuts are paving the way to Armageddon with gleeful anticipation.

God is a gentleman, it is His will that no man should perish apart from Him, if he loses one sheep, He will leave the ninety nine and travel the countryside looking for the one that was lost, Jesus declares that He has lost none of those the Lord has given Him, it is clear how much they care about us, but we are not forced to care or even consider them. You have the right to reject God, but it is a decision you had better give a lot of thought to,

That won't stop them from trying. But don't worry about Catholicism. They're a minority here. It is Protestant Fundamentalists who will abuse "majority rule" to make THEIR religion preferred by the government, and shoved down all our throats. They benefit from the active participation of Catholic dupes in this scheme, though.

I would do the same same we did over 200 years ago. You've come pretty close to describing why we left England in the first place.

I'd join you, underground or somewhere else, and look for ways to fight back.

Better yet, let's fight the would-be theocrats right now -- maybe there's still a chance to prevent this from happening. And if we fail, at least it won't be for lack of trying.

No one can force me to be Catholic, either. I would rather go the way of Jan Hus than join that lot!

Of course, going the way of Martin Luther would be better, in my opinion.
