I think right now "all" religions are going through some patches because everybody is questioning everything these days. It is the age of questions and no answers.

Presuming you mean 'rough patch', I think it's the final death throes of a redundant belief system that we've grown out of as a society or group of societies.

A vast number of people have lost interest in the churches and see its product as meaningless drivel (rightly so) and now the churches are feeling this in loss of revenue and, like any business, are trying to bring their customers back. Remember how big their budget is and how much power these people have; I wouldn't be surprised if some of the most disgusting atrocities in recent history weren't very effective marketing strategies of such large and powerful businesses.

whats a though patch?

So, you mean tough patch?

Religion will always go through tough patches because it exists in the realm of the ego, and you know how that goes! But if it ever moves into UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, it will go through a paradigm shift.

It's called the great falling away, and the bible foretold it. Happens right before the tribulation.
