The best thing to use on anything like vomit or urine is a mixture of normal household stuff. It foams up and kills any bacteria in there, helps take the stain out and so on. Forget the junk you buy in the store. None of them work that well. Also, be weary of anything suggesting vinegar or ammonia. Vinegar is used to set dyes in fabrics and can set a pet stain in carpet. Ammonia is in cat urine and is what attracts a cat to a certain spot. Ammonia will only make your cat pee in the same spot more often. So, here's the recipe...

In a plastic disposable container, mix 15 oz. of 3% hydrogen peroxide, 2 level teaspoons of baking soda, a few drops of dish washing soap, and mix well but be careful not to shake it or do anything else to make the dish soap foam up too much. Pour it slowly on the affected area, soaking the carpet and padding under well. It may bubble a bit, this is normal. It may also feel warm to the touch. This means it's working. (same way peroxide foams when you put it on a cut) Let it dry completely. If there is white residue from the baking soda, don't worry, this will vacuum up. If a slight residue is left, just wipe with a clean sponge and water, after the entire procedure is done. Do not store any of this solution, dispose of any that is left. Keep repeating this until the stains and odor are gone. Also, be sure to test for colorfastness of your fabric before using the stuff.

I use club soda and a soft cloth for the first treatment. This neutralizes the acid that comes up from the cat's stomach. It will get most of the stain. Then, in a day or so, when the soda has dried up I use a spot remover on the carpet.

Spray the area with vinegar & water & then use a scrub brush to remove it.Then you can use a cloth to soak up the remaining liquid.
Good luck.
