Revelations 12:7: "And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,"

KJV Bible

"Dragon" is referring to Satan.

From the passage, and supporting passages, we can determine that there is war & violence in heaven, and, there is "sin" in heaven.

Why would anyone claim heaven is any different than the earth?

Or, is the Bible lying (again)?

The passage is from the King James Bible which is generally considered an authority to most Christians other than Catholics.

And, it clearly states that Satan and the angels who followed him waged war in heaven. From which they were cast down to the earth (in other passages).

Why would we assume it won't happen again? It's obvious God isn't in control of heaven since he can't prevent people from waging war or sinning.

It would be safe to assume that rebelling against God & his angels would be a sin.

To angeltress:

None of the other passages alter the meaning of the cited passage. God does not control heaven, angels (souls?) wage war in heaven and there is sin in heaven.

The consequences are irrelevant to those conclusions. The only other option is that the bible is lying (again).

Firstly, why on earth do you use the Bible to support yourself, when you sir do not believe in it. If you understand everything that is written in Revelation then you should write a book, because for thousands of years many theologians have not been able to agree on the meanings of it. Where exactly does it state that there is sin in heaven? Prove it!

Great question!

I think to answer this question, we would need to know which "heaven" is being spoken of here, and the truth is, this passage is not really clear.

According to the Greek, the place where this war is taking place is "ouranos" -- that is, ir can be just a basic word for "sky" (although there are more than one meanings for this term -see below:

A. the vaulted expanse of the sky with all things visible in it
1. the universe, the world
2. the aerial heavens or sky, the region where the clouds and the tempests gather, and where thunder and lightning are produced
3. the sidereal or starry heavens
B. the region above the sidereal heavens, the seat of order of things eternal and consummately perfect where God dwells and other heavenly beings

Also, I would add that the idea of "heaven" as a place in the sky where we go as reward is a huge topic --and much discussed. The Bible seems to present several views as to what the afterlife might be, but it is really we human beings that are mainly responsible for our conceptualizations of heaven, and these concepts have changed through times. I recommend, "A Brief History of Heaven" as a great survey of how understandings of heaven have emerged and evolved over time and how these conceptions relate to historical and social change http://www.blackwellpublishing.com/book.asp?ref=0631233547

You really ought to post the rest of the passage:
Rev 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
Rev 12:8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
OH, and I love this part!
Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Rev 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

And THAT, my friend, is why Heaven is such a geat place!!

The Bible says Heaven is the name of the firmament that lies
between the Earth and where the Source of Life is. Genesis 1.
There is indeed war going on in Heaven. And there will soon be an event which will connect warlike activity on material,
extraterrestrial, and spiritual levels.
Afterward. Those who want to fish for a thousand years in Heaven, will get to do so. But when they get tired of it. They will have to go to school. Because it's along way to go to get where True peace and rest is. With our Creator.

You understand nothing about the Bible. You are taking scripture verses out of context to prove your corrupt point. the war that broke out in heaven was before the foundation of the earth. That issue has been resolved with Satan and his rebel angels being sentenced to eternal death in hell. If you do not understand the Bible, which obviously you do not, and how it was written, which obviously you do not, and if you do not understand prophesy, which you obviously do not, then do not use the Bible as a source for your corrupt attacks on Christianity. And please do not tell me that you are a Christian because no Christan would say the things about heaven that you have. Repent, before it is too late. Jesus loves you.

Heaven is a physical place. You can touch things there...you can recognize things and other people, and these are not just holograms, they are real.

Satan is not going to be over there. He is cast out of heavens, or cosmos or how I should call it.

In heaven we do not have the limitations of the laws of physics, time...there is no pain and suffering. Heaven is a wonderful place, do not make mistake about it. The Bible does not lie.

Jesus is preparing heaven for us, for all of us, but He respects our free will, and when this world is gone, all followers of Christ will enter to the Father's house. It is going to be great to see Jesus face to face. It is going to be so wonderful.

There WAS war in heaven; the Bible doesn't say that there WILL BE war in heaven.

Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Just because you don't understand it, that doesn't mean that the Bible is lying - here or anywhere.

Heaven is a metaphor for the energy that one leaves behind. If you where a violent person your heaven will be violent. If your heaven was making people happy, your heaven will be happy. Each persons heaven is unique like our DNA. You determine your heaven or hell.
AND REMEMBER... the bible was written by men with agendas. Water off a ducks back, a pinch of salt and all that jazz.

JT, thanks for your question... The Bible uses the word "heaven" to refer to more than just the actual dwelling place of God. Heaven(S) also refer to the whole of the created universe.

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handywork.

Here the heavens refer to outerspace and the firmament refers to the atmosphere of earth.
