Talk to your parents and see what they think. If they think it is ok, go to the meeting and get more information. Decide with your parents when you have more information. If it is a real offer it seems like a fantastic opportunity!

I can pretty much guarantee you that its gonna cost more than 400 bucks to get out of the US. It has been a while, but last time I looked up flights to Australia it was nearly $2000. I think if you can swing the money, it would be a great experience. Especially if you can weasel some credits of of it! If the cost is too much, wait and do it on your own a lil later. On your own you will have freedom to travel more and check out the sites you really want to see!

It sounds like quite an opportunity, I would do it, when will you be able to do something like this again. If money is an issue, try having some fundraisers like a bake sale, car wash... send out letters to friends and family as well, tell them about this rare chance, and ask for 10, 20, or 50 dollars or whatever, if you send out 50 of them there is a big chunk of change right there.

well first of all grangrats it is a honer to ever have the chance to go when i was in high school i never got a chance like that neways to the point i would say if you can afford to go then go you would be able to meet people from other parts of the world maybe get college credit or something like that and learn a tons and all that is fine and dandy but before you make your final desicion i would make a pro and con list and get all your information together cost, credits, etc and once you make your decision based on that then whatever you do would be a well planned descion but hey thats what i would do so good luck and if you go have fun and of course god bless

Sounds like a scam. Make sure your parents go the meeting with you do a Goggle search on the name of the program. You failed to list the name of the program. At the meeting if they ask for any money run!

I say go for it! What a great opportunity! Wish I'd had that one! Australia is awesome, and it always helps to see other cultures and people! Some folks get nervous about leaving their own little place, but as someone who has been to Europe and actually lived there, it is fascinating. Have a GREAT time!

I got the same letter and went to an orientation about it and I saw that somebody I knew from a grade higher than me went. I thought it was okay to go since it was for smart kids and it was during the summer and I wasn't missing anything in school. Well, it was for 2 weeks but it cost like, $4000 for me to go to Europe. About a week later, I found that some of my friends who weren't even in the Gifted program got invited and so I thought that every reasonably intelligent kid got the letter and so I decided that I'd rather spend my summer playing computer games and watching TV. :D:D:D:D:D:D

My friend went on one of those trips. Although he went to China. He had a great time, today he still talks to many of the people he meet on the trip. The trip was expensive, for him it cost $5,000. I know what your thinking alot right but he said he would pay it over again to have another experience like that.

First of all, show it to your mom and dad. Make sure it is the real thing. Don't want you to get to paradise and end up as a seventeen cent an hour employee in China. We are still looking for the girl that went to Central America two years ago for her class trip. That's my advice.

Call up the people who sent you the letter and get more info. It does sound like a great opportunity if it's for real. Make sure it's not a scam, though.
