Because of the high risk of talking to a pedophile and eventually being in a position that she can't get out of.

Usually because they can never be sure how old the guy is and what his intentions are. I'm not saying that every guy that asks for a female friend is like 79 and wants more than just friendship. But with all the stories today it really is hard to be sure! You seem nice enough though!

Girls can't verify anything that's told to them over the internet. They may be laying the ground work to be raped or scammed.
