to really get the best result, you're usually going to have to bite the bullet and take the chemo
radiation alone can be very effective at shrinking the tumor, but it's unpredicatable--a few malignant cells will start it all over again
Chemo is rough, really rough, but to give yourself the best chance, take both

If carcinoma lung is inoperable but otherwise not metastatic to other areas then radiation with concurrent chemotherapy is what that works, check NCCN guidelines,.. "biting the bullet" is not the point chemotherapy holds different importance for different diseases and stages

it depends on how aggressive the tumor is and whether or not the tumor is a limited or extensive stage form of cancer. Radiation can be extremely effective alone, chemo is just an amplifier to attack disease. find out more about the state of disease if you want a reliable answer.

It really depends on who is getting the treatment. Different treatments work differently on different people.
