Everyone faces death alone. I don't care about earthly possessions. I am definately not afraid of death, it is just a part of the process.

Each and every being came to earth alone and must one day leave alone too. Earthly/material possessions and love are important as part of survival. We all have duties on earth. We automaticaly enter into a social community to whom we are dependent on and thus have the same responsibility for. This could simply mean being alone and work to earn money for your own survival needs and in this way contrbuting to society by paying your taxes and living moraly in your community. It could extend to you living with your family to whom you will owe some duty and responsibility and vice verca. It could be just you and a partner and further more you may have children and so your duty and responsibilty to your children/family and friends becomes important and dependant on your own survival. So in this way we all have this dut and responsibility towards each and every person we come into touch with.

You could become a monk/nun. You'll mostly be responsible for yourself but again you'l have duties towards society and especialy the other nuns/monks you are with. You could become a ascetic and retire to a place like India and have no responsibility or duty to any human to some extent. But then again you still need to be mindful that there are other communities and societies and other living beings around you that depend on you to act lawfuly and moraly at the least if not to love and care for them.

So when we come onto Earth we are born with this sense of responsibility and duty to one another whether it be a human society or community or another living being. You need to accept that you have a valid position and role on Earth and live life hapily and enjoy all the good things as who knows what life there is after death, there might not even be one. So don't worry about dying, take the opertunity of life and use it to your advantage.

Do we die alone? If everyone faces death alone, then at least we are not alone in having that experience... still, I'm not convinced that we do all die alone- for some of us will die surrounded by our families in comfort- others will die holding hands with their loved ones.

At the same time, I'd say that death is unique- if the spirit or whatever is cleaved from the corpse and dances away, no-one can tell. Will we all be equal in death, or are there different places, better and worse, to go to? We cannot know, except if we die and these things prove to be true. If consciousness fades completely, then nothing has been lost- or everything, depending on your viewpoint.

Whilst you're in the world, care for the things of the world- once you're past it, concern yourself about what's going on.

Tara! I'm off to ride my bike x.

I'm terrified of death but that may only be because I'm still so young. People were never meant to die alone. That is a modern invention when people found it easier to ignore their elders and hide them away in retirement communities where they can sit alone looking out a window waiting for death. Those possessions are just here to make life easier and are given to another after you die. Possessions are irrelevant. Being surrounded by your family and friends through out your life is very important. My parents and in-laws have an open invitation to move in with us when they feel they can no longer take care of them selves in their own homes. No one should die alone.

People care about earthly possessions because this is all that they know and are accustomed to. It is natural to be this way, but you have to have divine knowledge and understanding to realize that there is so much more after this life. Just trust God if you are a believer and you will not be that scared anymore. I am ready to die whenever, but that doesn't mean I am looking forward to it. Once it is done, the pain and fear is gone, unless you are cast into the darkest area of the universe or hell.

I don't care about possessions much, and yeah I probably will die alone. Scared? I don't know, I use to be, but now I'm sort looking forward to the hereafter, what's beyond this life. To me it's like going into the unknown, and I've never been afraid of that. New and wonderful experiences. (OK, at least new)

Hello Corn,

I reckon everyone is afraid of something they haven't experienced in a way. I also think the valley of death is not gonna be fearful in Christ because death is a shadow which has been Concorde in Jesus. So in him there is no need to fear. Possessions are really crap ain't they. They don't mean anything or make anyone any better, because we are all the same people ambling through life. Immaculate love? you mean the love of God ?

You'll be afraid of it all right when your time comes. As for earthly possessions, have you tried living without them? You certainly can't take them with you but they're nice to have for the time being!

of course we die alone we only take our good and bad doings with us so we should watch and be smart what we do.
we care about those stuff because we want to feel secure in this life and grounded wich we are not we may die at any second and take nothing so we try to get everything .
