To live in fear of death is kind of a silly thing to do isn't it?

If one is strong in their faith, shouldn't they be prepared for it anyways?

I never looked at it like that, awesome question!

The main reason I think people fear death is pain (if any) and of course fear of the unknown, Everyone has their theroies of "life after death" and that happens to your your soul when you pass but it all comes down to that question what's going to happen to me now?

A lot of people get scared when they first go to swimming lessons. A lot of people get scared when they move to a new city. A lot of people get scared when they start college. None of these are even comparable with mortality (well maybe swimming lessons if you suck) but they're things people get scared of. It's an unknown situation, so people aren't sure of themselves and are afraid. None of them really give you good reason to be afraid. College is the best time of many people's lives, but the first step can be scary. It's just the existance of the unknown. Death is the ultimate unknown. No amount of faith changes that because, while others may have told you about it, it's something you can't experience until your one shot. Even if it's silly that the faithful fear death, that doesn't mean they'll stop.

Yes, those strong in faith should be prepared.
But, I like to live. It is our nature to survive. There are so many things in this world worth living for. I am not going to go down without a fight. I like to breathe, even if it's for 5 more minutes.

I believe I'm not "defending" myself from death - just merely trying to prolong my life and live my life to the fullest in a healthy way and to have the mind to comprehend what's going on around me as I age.

We strive to defend ourselves because it is a natural human trait to defend yourself from harm and attempt to sustain your life.....I also believe that Christ's teachings directed toward his 12 disciples was addressing this very issue. He was trying to teach them to put away their natural human traits by following his example.

We are indoctrinated with fear and denial.
One more thing. I do not think that anywhere in the New Testament it states that you need an intermediary to speak with or pray to God. This was all grafted on by man, and his lust for power.

Well it's not coming fast enough for me. I guess there are many more lessons I must learn, and teach before my time is due.
I have been ready for a long time..........

I have no explanation for it but self survival is the strongest sense we have, with sex coming in second.

Yeah...it is.
Still no one likes to die a horrible painful death.
What pisses me off is people killing several others so that they can survive...
