ok.. a)Worrying doesnt solve anything... Relax!! :-)
b) There are several ytpes of anemia - too many in fact... i) Nutrient deficiency anemia - deficiency of iron or folic acid or VitB12 - curable - treat with supplements
ii) Blood group incompatibility - infants are born wih anemia - it is due to mismatch between mother and child blood group - either ABO incompatibility or if the mother is Rh-ve adn the baby is Rh+ve. -Mostly curable - treated with phototherapy or if severe, exchange transfusion
iii) Genetic disorders - Hemolytic anemias - thalassemias, sideroblatic anemia, sickle cell disease, G6PD deficiency, and so many others - not curable, but definitely treatable - each one has its own recommendations and precautions to take to avoid other infections and complications.
iv) Blood loss anemia - curable - treat with blood transfusion
Now.. as you have probably gauged by now, you need to diagnose what TYPE of anemia she has - and accordingly treat it - do a full blood count - get values of Hemoglobin, MCV, MCH, MCHC, RDW.. and do a peripheral smear... ther tests too depending on type of anemia.
Need to know... is there any family histoy of anemia from any of the above mentioned causes? How long has she been anemic? How old is she? And a few other answers too to comment adequately...
Anyway... now you know enuff not to worry too much...

what you need to do is take your granddaughter to the doctor and have them do the blood test to see how low her count is and then they can give her some medicine and iron pills from the doctor which is a higher dose than you get in stores.
I still get anemia once in a while and the iron tablets from the doctor will help.

yes for many it's very possible, My 3 siblings and I were all born Anemic (low iron and such). We are none us, now, Anemic. Iron supplements, and good nutritious diet helps. But for some it doesn't go away due to other disorders or afflictions the body goes through. Plus, for women, some get anemic during their monthly menstrual cycle (and it does NOT go away it is chronic) or during Pregnancy or other times of their life...it depends on the Individual's body how soon it goes away but most likely it usually does unless their other factors besides the Anemia that the body has to deal with as well.

There are many types of anemia. Many are caused by vitamin or mineral deficiencies and can be successfully treated. Without knowing what age girl and type of anemia you are talking about, it's impossible to say if she will be cured.

anemia isn't usualy a really big deal, unless its one of the rare types. a good diet and iron pills will help with that..i've been anemic since i was little ..of course it does depend on what her other underlining illnesses are. For people like me who are allergic to the iron pill, Green vegies like artichokes, and spinache are extreemly high in iron..so is liver..they may not always taste good to everyone, but it sure beats taking a pill on a daily basis.
