Not all pagans are intolerant of Christians, but it is a fairly common trend, unfortunately. Some things that I've noticed coming into play:
- The misunderstanding that Christian = fundamentalist.
- People coming from negative experiences with Christianity.
- Rampant persecution complexes.
- Desire to jump on the bandwagon and fit in. (I take a very cynical view of the "individualism" and "openmindedness" touted by many pagans.)
Edited to Add: I see a difference between intolerance and disagreeing with Christianity, by the way. You can disagree with the tenents of the faith and not be a jerk about it. You can also differentiate between the religion itself and some of its more zealous followers.

Not a pagan but I may be of some help.
Christians disagree with immoral behavior. That is why. When people can't argue with intelligence they switch to character assassination.
Homosexual causes are a good example. That is why the ACLU (which is being run by a homosexual) is out to remove all of the Christian commandments from every government building in the nation. They are using a made up law that doesn't even exist in the constitution called "The separation between church and state" it was included in a letter, not in the constitution. The founding fathers didn't have a problem with religion, they opened every session of congress with a prayer. They put prayer on money. They put it everywhere because they knew, as I do, there is a God and he is going to come back.
The fact is the world is on a deviant bent worse than ever before. The boy scouts (a group for boys that want to learn and help people) are demonized and attacked while homosexuals are revered.
Women are walking around in what used to be considered under-ware. Racy and attention grabbing Yes. Just remember your wife or girlfrend is going to be wearing it when your not there and every guy in the town is going to be staring at her in lust.
The vitriol versus Christians is just beginning, as more immoral behavior is accepted by the cesspool of ideals more anger will be focused on the people that disagree with it.

I think the answer lies in the Christians around us. I am not intolerant of Christians, however, I am intolerant of those who do not tolerate me. I am taken aback by the blindness of those who would say I am "LOST" and will be "left behind" when "rapture" comes. These people cannot and will not create my future for me. They think that this is true because the teachings have been twisted. I look on these people as misunderstanding, and in need of intellectual and emotional debate. There is a reason these kind of Christians feel a need to be better than the rest. That reason lies in their life and in their past. For them to judge where I am going after death is something that was already spoken against in the bible, anyway; "Judge not, lest ye be judged." And those doing the judgement, rather Christian or Pagan, will realize that it is a detriment to our society as a whole. And the judgement that falls on a soul who has done nothing but judge those who believe differently than itself, will be just as harsh as the judgements that came from their hearts and minds, regardless how much scripture led them to think it was okay. And this would be the reason that MOST pagans are intolerant of christians. Because they feel as though christians are smug (and from what I've seen on Answers, most of them are just that--SMUG) about their promised place in heaven. And that the pagans and islamists and hindus and buddhists will all burn. I see these smug Christians as being part of a clique. That never graduates from high school. That is not to say they are all that way. They aren't. But I would have to say that the majority of Christians on Answers are. Or at least they represent themselves to be.
In Light and Love-Blessed Be.

I'm not a Pagan. I'm an agnostic heathen but I have had theological discussions with both Pagans and Christians. most Pagans I've encountered would like nothing better than to be left in peace to practice their rites but Christianity has made a mission out of destroying nonChristian cultures in the name of their deity. tho Christians no longer have the power to burn nonChristians at the stake they none the less continue to express prejudice and contempt for anyone not Christian (Jews might get a pass for being "The Chosen People"). Christians reap what they sow. they sow intolerance thus reap intolerance. they sow religious bigotry thus reap religious bigotry. simple as that.

HMmmmmm, I don't know you guys were intolerant of Christians, but I would like to know the same thing if it's true.
I don't see paganism as a which craft or devil worshiping, To me I think it's more like magic or meditaiton or something. I think it would really be cool to learn about it and which craft, I would love to learn which craft too, could you imagine the could it could do in the right people. In the right people this world could be so much better.

I think you are making sweeping generalizations that are not true.
Yes I’ve met many Pagans who are intolerant of Christians but I’ve also met many that were quite giving and kind to anyone (regardless of religion).
If this is your experience with Pagans I would suggest that you find other folks to hang around.
Blessed Be,
Pabs

Because the Christian religion (but not only Christians) specifically targets Paganism as a form of witchcraft and or Devil worship. Also there is the fact that Pagans do not conform for mainstream religion.

THEY are intolerant of US. They want to take away our right to live our own lives as we wish. THEY are the problem.
I doubt you're really a pagan or you wouldn't be asking this question.
