Reformating your harddisk will erase all information found in your harddisk. Its important to save any important datas before doing so.

To reformat your Harddisk for Win XP:
1) Insert your win xp disc into your CD-Drive
2) Reboot your computer
3) When the computer display 'Press any key to boot from CD' or something, just press key.
4) Follow the instructions on screen. You should be able to reformat your computer and install back your window easily if you follow the instructions on the screen.

Note:
1) It is best to go through this with someone who done it before, as it might be a bit difficult for someone who had never done it before.
2) In order to boot from CD, you have to make sure the 1st boot priority in your CMOS is set as your CD-Drive or it will not work.
3) You definitely will not be able to reformat your harddisk from inside windows.

If you reformat your hard drive, it means that everything will be wiped out of it, including your Operating System, programs and files. If you feel that your computer is not "normal", then you should consider reformatting. You can backup your file on a CD or Pendrive before carrying out this operation.

If you want to know how to reformat, Google for "reinstalling windows". This is one of the results I got:

ok you'll want a 2d HD, or CDs, or someplace to back up all of your records. it truly is a possibility to format only a unmarried partition and by no skill effect the info (in the adventure that they are on separate walls), yet then you definately are nevertheless going to opt to fix to production unit default which immediately formats and repartitions your complete pc (all records will be lost!). you'd be taken by skill of a setup procedure to configure your new settings, yet they're somewhat person-friendly to stay with. Formatting wipes the force/partition and leaves it sparkling. Restoring wipes the force and reconfigures the computer to the way it grow to be you first were given it (in case you got it sparkling from a save). ***caution*** in case you format it and don't have an XP or production unit Default CD, then you definately are stuck with a sparkling HD.

If you reformat, you will lose whatever data that you have. Best to copy anything you want to save onto CD's or DVD's before you do so.
