I personally would rather allow someone else to beat me at something unimportant and trivial, than to compromise my self respect and sense of decency or through the act of competition, force them to do or behave the same, I try never to compete with anyone for anything.
I actually dislike tenacious competitive people very much. I think it is a very ugly character trait to expose & always feel the need to beat everyone at everything. I find people like that very hard to be around...
Everyone likes it... But I tend to leave it up to fate and lady luck or natural selection rather than striving or pushing or forcing the issue.
