Adultery is having sex with another while married. My question was about why is sex out of marriage is banned when such activity is not mentioned in the bible beyond onanism. And yes, I have read it. Religiously!

People take from the Bible what they want. Love thy neighbor... (2nd commandment). Homosexuality is abomination... (Leviticus). Whenever someone literally applies the Bible to life as justification for their preferences, they are living hypocricy as well. Whenever someone grants certain passages more credance than others, they are making moral judgements about the Bible itself. Your question and it's answers illustrate these points.

The Bible says that if you 'can't control your urges' then you should get married, otherwise you should control your urges.

It also says that if you divorce for any reason other than adultery you make that person an adulterer. Although I STRONGLY believe God is ok with divorcing someone for abuse.
