In my house we have a plasma, DLP, and LCDs. LCD's are the best in my opinion for sure. Picture quality is pretty great in all but in the long run you won't have to worry about an LCD as much.

Each has it's benefits and draw backs, You must evaluate what you want to use it for, your pocket book, and room size. If you are wanting something 40" or smaller for TV usage then I recommend LCD flat panel. They are coming out with bigger ones every day but then you are going to pay for it. These are great and last a long time since they don't get to hot (florescent lamps and the associated ballasts) so the electronics last longer, and no chance of burn-in. Draw backs are slower refresh rates so fast moving games blur slightly and when the florescent lamps goes bad you have to replace the whole panel on 90% of the manufacturers. If you wish a larger flat panel then plasma is a good option, as long as you take care of it. They work with larger power-supplies and generate much more heat and the burn-in problem like CRT has (phosphor based displays don't like static images). So when your not watching it, turn it off. Projection is another option. There is rear and front projection and the only difference is where the screen is in reference to the projector. There are LCD, CRT, LCoS, HD-ILA, and DLP. CRT is the old style and other than phosphor burns and convergence circuits they are good work horses and heavy. The rest use high intensity mercury vapor lamps that will go bad, costs a bunch to replace, and generate a lot of heat. This heat will destroy the LCD panels (blue first) so stay away!. LCoS bounces off the panel so they last eons longer than LCD. DLP bounces of a mirrored chip so they last the longest, But the use a color wheel that doesn't seem to hold up, Many brands allow the color wheel to be replaced individually. DLP is the best for projectors, they have no burn in, fast action isn't blured by refresh rates, and it will be as clear in 15 year with a new lamp as it was on day 1. Finally HD-ILA is a JVC thing and their lamps don't last, that audio output ICs blow up, the memory get zapped, stay away!

Just get an HD capable CRT. Plasmas and LCDs burn out after 60k+ viewing hours (on average); DLP's have brightness problems from what I have heard, and I havent heard of LCOS..

lcd tvs are the best because it has the best picture(tied with plasma), and is the longest lasting. If you do buy an lcd, get a SONY because it is the only tv with a anti-glare screen and is rated the best picture of the year since 2002

solid to work out an old face, I had about forgotten that you've been in my contacts (used to apply my %, a guy in a black blouse in case you shop in concepts) I guess it would want to be not user-friendly to locate, yet back interior the 80s I shop in concepts observing a television sequence depending on the classic action picture "conflict of the Worlds" and the sequence had an analogous call, it became particularly cool. It became purely on previous due at nighttime, i turned right into a baby and can want to exhibit screen it on the sneak, i'd have only a touch been a youngster even as i might want to exhibit screen it, it will be not user-friendly to locate. i particularly loved the unique black and white Twilight Zone I genuinely have 2 DVD field instruments of them. I loved each and every of the great call treks, unique, next gen, deep area 9,Voyager,agency, all solid. i'd be a geek for asserting this, yet i for my area loved "Angel" the spin off of buffy the Vampire Slayer, not as huge of a fan of the unique buffy even if it had its moments. i do not particularly get into television the way I did interior the previous, I genuinely were out of the loop because the early 2000s as far as particularly playing a television sequence, do not recognize a lot about the cord so i'm only asserting off the appropriate of My head what i like. I have a tendency to love exhibits which do not make it lengthy, I loved "the Tick" (both the lively and version with actors) and that i have been given a touch into exhibits like "johny 0" that by no ability made it previous the first season. Edit: Oh, if you're comfortable with observing a caricature, Daria became great, my pal has the finished sequence on DVD, we would want to exhibit screen it and reminisce about the 90s and early 2000s
