The Christians I'm addressing are little more than ignorant savages being lead by BIGOTS that preach hatred for any who dare be different from "the norm" and like the Nazis use these scapegoats to keep their flock in line. that's why a 19 yr old friend of mine was attracted with baseball bats and probably will die just walking to work, for the crime of being gay.

Tammi Dee, you are very angry at Christians. Some Christians behave poorly, and some aren't kind. This much is true. But there are many Christians who behave well and act out of kindness.

What I suggest to you is that you stop looking at PEOPLE for a place to put or remove your faith, and start looking at God. Once you go to God, you will become freer from these feelings of anger and bitterness...that seem to arise, for you, because of the way certain people behave. You will understand that some people behave poorly because people are fallen beings who are prone to sin.

I am a Christian, and I follow no ignorant savages. I follow the Son of God, who is neither ignorant (in fact, he is brilliant) nor a savage. I do not follow people, since people are not worthy of being followed. I talk to people, I listen to people, I live among people, I help people...but I don't follow them. People are prone to all manner of error and impurity. To put my faith in and then follow a person is insane.

Nazis didn't use scapegoats to keep their flock in line. Nazis used money (the Third Reich completely revitalized the German economy and its citizens were flush) and pride (nationalism, a "doctrine" of superiority) to garner adherents. Nazis HAD a scapegoat, but they didn't use this scapegoat to keep anyone in line. They kept people in line using age-old temptations--cash and ego--and then scapegoated the Jews for their own sick purposes. That is, with Germany's people distracted with worldly pleasures, the Third Reich was able to do what it wanted with regard to ethnic cleansing, and with few citizens asking questions.

I am sorry that your friend was attacked, and I hope that he is all right.

Did Christians attack him? You didn't make that clear in your question. If some Christians attacked him, know that individuals attacked your friend, not a whole religion.

Dear friend

When talking about Christians don't categorize them

Not all christians are the same, unlike Jews and muslims

We have a free will, everyone acts differently. Being gay is not a religious matter, every religion may give birth to gayness and many people of different religions will respond differently. It is a Human error not a religious one

Who knows maybe another Da Vinci Code will claim that Jesus was actually gay, wanting 12 disciples as he was greedy to show that gays are also accepted

They married Jesus for christ's SAKE!

So much stupidity in the world

many christians try to follow the bible, their are references in the bible about homosexuals. preachers will be held accountable if they didnt speak the word. although some go a little too far, but they should preach what the word say and let the chips fall where they may.

jesus went around preaching and he didnt beat any one over the head with it, he said what he said and moved on. your friend and i pray he will recover did not get attaked because preachers are preaching against it, , he got attacked because some ignorant person choose to do that.

the one that did that did not know jesus. people that are being hateful and call themselves christians dont know jesus either because jesus taught with love. the ones that are following people like that believe they are doing the right thing when they persecute people and thats unfortunate.

if the word says no to homosexuals than as preachers they have a charge to preach against it in love, those that dont preach that in love dont know jesus either.

just because some call themselves christians doesnt make it so. christians mean christlike and if they arent christlike than people one day hopefully will wake up and start following some one that is christlike.

the ones that you talk about will only change when its a member of their own household and god has a way of changing the heartless into compassioante people who hates the sin but love the people.

Why do I find this story doubtful? Probably because every time a homosexual gets attacked (especially with a baseball bat) it makes national news. I just did a check of CNN, MSNBC, FOX, and CBS, and haven't found anything. I also checked the various news outlets in Connecticut to see if there was anything, and couldn't find that either.

And unless you are talking about Fred Phelps (the Democrat supporter of Al Gore) who pastors Westboro Baptist Church, I don't know of any who preach "hate" toward homosexuals. (That is, unless you mean the teachings of the Bible being taught as they relate to the sin of practicing homosexuality.) But even then, that's not "hate." Hate does not mean "disagree" with your chosen sin.

These religious "leaders", and I use the term loosely, tend to be very charismatic and attractive. People have a tendency to flock to them for various reasons, usually due to insecurities and a need to belong regardless of the consequences.
In retrospect, why do people blindly follow their governments? Don't get me wrong, I'm not a guerilla or anything, I'm just sick of being told what is good, and bad, for me.

Did you actually see a bunch of Christians file out of a church wielding baseball bats to beat your friend? I am truly sorry about your friend and I hope he makes a full recovery, but your hysterical, bigoted rant proves that you have a hatred for a religion you have rejected, not to mention it's followers. Perhaps it is your own heart that needs to be examined here.

Chapelite has exposed you as a liar. Why would you make up a story like this?
Stuff like this does happen, I'm afraid, but it is wrong to blame an entire group for the acts of a few.
A young white girl gets raped and mutilated by a gang of black youths during a race riot. Should we blame all black youths? Of course not!
A small black child gets off of a bus in Selma, and is attacked by a gang of white middle class mothers who don't want black kids in "their" school. Should we blame all white moms? I hope not!
A young man gets beaten for being gay by a bunch of "Christian" men. Should we blame the entire Christian community? No!
Another young man is jumped by a gang who beats him unmercifully because he is a Christian. Should we blame all atheists for this? Don't be stupid.
Please use your head before making ridiculous statements...and, please, don't make up stories like these. There is enough real horror going on in the world, you don't need to invent any more.

Sometimes we (human beings, not just "christians") can be easily swayed.

Stories like that are horrible. When will fear of the unknown cease to be an excuse? When will did our perception of morality become birthplace for hatred?

Truth twisted in the right way is often the most powerful way to control people. Evil people know this so they twist Christianity to get others to do bad things.
