There is a Lasik procedure for presbyopia. Consult your local LASIK surgeons. Also, there are several IOLs (intra-ocular lens implants) that will basically take you out of glasses altogether. No need to wait for cataract surgery. One in particular is called the "rezoom" lens. Rather expensive, but everyone in the office I work in that has had the procedure loves it.

Lasik is not used to correct eye problems for those who wear reading glasses, as far as I know.
If you have both near sighted and far sighted problems Lasik could fix part of your problem but you would still have to wear reading glasses and no longer have to wear bifocals.
When I had Lasik surgery they were telling me that they are in the process of developing a surgerical fix for those who have to wear reading glasses. Not sure if this is avaliable yet though. But be on the look out for it! I'm 26 now and hope by the time I have to wear reading glasses they will have it perfected.

What you have is presbyopia. because the lens in your eye does not move to accomodate for reading. This is a natural aging of the eye. LASIK is for nearsightedness and farsightedness and astigmatism. Unfortunately LASIK can not correct your reading problem. You can do Monovision which is Lasik on the nondominant eye and make it nearsighted. you can try this by wearing a reading Contact in one eye and see how you like it before you actually do surgery. your optometrist can help you with that.
