I don't think it's so much the citizens that are fools, I think it's more evidence of undue influence being wielded in Washington on our legislators. Get a leash on the lobbying, and things will level out, in my view, some changes have already come about, with more to follow...I'm all for that transparency thing, I think that'll chase a lot of rats out of Washington...so would a budget cap and a 30-year plan to end debt spending, period. 30 years because they've already overspent so bad it's not even funny.

As far as the lady in the church, calling her a 'whore' is counterproductive to the immigration debate. I'd go as far as 'hard luck case', but leave it there...the real problem remains that the reason she's even sitting in that church is a direct result of bad border policy, which has been practiced for decades due to its' lucrative aspects, at least in the eyes of certain parties.

I see it this way: You hear em going on and on about this 'homeland security' thing, so if that's really important, isn't it kind of schizophrenic to not have the border closed and the ICE out in force to start helping people get back home? 12 million people, the estimated number of people (no one really knows for sure 'cause illegal aliens don't like, register themselves) in our country illegally, could concievably become some sort of army, under the right circumstances...That would be 'bad'.

Bottom line is, that lady's a symptom, the problem's in Congress....write em today, specifically cite her circumstance if you feel it's relevant, but DO speak out in a gainful way, even if it's just sitting in on your next city council meeting or something.
The House has been doing these public hearings on the issue, which I think is a positive sign, getting back to listening to the voting public instead of their financial donors or whatever...speak out on more forums, but keep the verbiage clean, or people will just get mad at you, and tune you out, and that's not what this whole thing is about, not trying to spread discontent, but rather table an issue that's been out there for years but nobody's really wanted to confront it 'til now.

Forums like this one are a really great tool to get other people's views, and express your own. Here's hoping there's more like this one in the future....

Personally I don't like them at all! These illegals are a kick in the teeth not only to all americans but also to the immigrants that came here legally. They should be loaded up by the truck load and taken back to their home. Beef up border patrol...way more sharp shooters.

Hello and goodmoraning, yes you are right, we have to pick up the tab. Illegal immigrants stay in our country make money and do not pay their taxes like they should. However it is statisticaly shown that their next generation (their kids and grandkids) will make up for those unpaid taxes. About the illegal immigrants getting many opportunities to cross the boarder. Well we cant do anything about it, millions of people try to cross the boarder illegaly we cant put everyone who tries to cross the boarder into prison, it would be TOO expensive. Therefore, we just catch them and send them back to their native country, (remember that the problem is not just mexico but most of south america countries). A solution to stop this would be to apply a better trade agreement with south american countries in order to help boost their economy and provide them with a better standard of living. This way they wont have the NEED to come over to our country.

Infuriating! What's it going to take to change the immigration policies (or lack thereof) in this nation? I'm sick of my taxes paying for deadbeats, while my own job benefits keep getting decreased.
