the vets office gave me some pain meds for them, and told me how to give it to them. they said make sure each takes their own medicine and not the other's. however, i'm pretty sure they said this was because the female was getting a little more med than the male, which makes sense because a spay is more invasive and has a longer recovery time than a neuter... but when i went to give them their meds this morning, they were labeled so the male gets more than the female...
i have tried calling the vet's office, but no one is answering the phone. any vet techs around that could help me out, so my kittens can get their meds? thanks!

Pain meds are based on weight (at least all of them I've worked with), not the amount of pain. Whichever one is heavier is the one that should be getting more. If it's liquid pain meds in individual syringes, looks can be deceiving. Males tend to be larger than females, so without seeing them or the meds I would say go with what the label says. If the female is heavier, give them both the smaller dose amount til you can talk to the vet. Do they have an after hours number or answering service? If they do, call that and have the doctor paged, or see if there is an emergency clinic you can check with (they may need to see the cats tho). And since I saw a lot of this...I just want to tell you...give them every dose the doctor prescribed....don't stop giving it just cause they're not acting painful. Good for you for trying to make sure you're giving them what they're supposed to get ! :)

Chances are it is not a pain medication but rather an antibiotic. Until you speak with your vet, then give them both the lower doseage. Antibiotics are based on weight so it is very possible that the male, who is likely to weigh more then the female would be getting more.

Find an emergency animal hospital in your area & ask them. I wish I knew & could hug you for being a responsible pet owner for having your kittens fixed!! Good luck
