hi my names sparky, and thanks to the NCDL instead of putting me down they at your benefit took me in and made me well again because you see i wasn't looked after and I was abused by my owner. I now have a home even though nothing is known of my past i can be re-homed and trusted around children. Please remember it only costs 20 pounds to put a dog down, 15,000 to look after a dog and 1 pound to save a childs life in Africa.

PS: after you have finished reading this a child will have starved to death. think about that when your dogs getting doggy treats.

So it costs £1 to save a life in Africa- those poor, dying, precious little scraps. Are there any children left in Africa to save? Because at the rate of £10,000,000 a year in aid, £1 each must surely have saved everybody for now, because they have been getting that money since the 1950s, so if the poor are still dying, wheres the money gone to, and why are there so many rich people there????? like ministers with 27 cars and 11 houses????

My dogs are well looked after and I sponsor a dog at the Dogs Trust (used to be the NCDL - try to keep up). The Dogs Trust do a really good job of caring for dogs who have been abandoned, starved and abused by people.

I also support two children's charities -one in the UK and one abroad. The British children have been abandoned, starved and abused by the people who should have cherished them - their parents!

The African children have been abandoned, starved and abused by their government.

The common denominator here is that the most helpless among us, our so-called pets and our children have been callously and cruelly treated by people who should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

I'm not one of them and I don't feel guilty when I feed my dogs or donate to an animal charity - I do my bit to help children at home and abroad.

What do you do in practical terms to help the children you are so concerned about? Do you have a standing order to donate money every month to various charities for children in Africa? And closer to home - have you ever intervened when some irate parent has assaulted their child because they lack the patience and parenting skills to deal with their child without resorting to violence?

Try fronting some one up the next time you see a child being hit in public - you might find tossing a coin in a charity box more up your street.

I got my dog Amber from a rescue centre too, she is my baby, we have always given to dog charities over the years my hubby and I because its what we do, today we had devastating news about Amber and no amount of money is going to save her, tell you what shall I just chuck her treats away or send them to the starving in Africa or shall I ask for a refund at the supermarket, how arrogant you are to assume people don't care, we do care but for some it just doesn't work every time.

Compassion is not limited. It is possible to give a crap about more than one thing at a time.
It may interest you to know that the RSPCA recognised years ago that people who abuse their pets always go on to abuse their kids in exactly the same way. If the pets are starved, so will the kidds be.
Social services took some convincing, but now listen to RSPCA inspectors who have concerns.
And the NSPCC had no support when they started, except from the RSPCA who gave them free office space.

You claim it only costs £1 to save a childs life in Africa; what do they do tomorrow when you have forgotten they exist?

ALL life is important. A starving dog is just as important as a starving child in God's eyes....and mine. I support all kinds of charities animal & people. But we can only do so much with the economy the way it is. But we do what we can to help animals & people.

Just because I have a dog I rescued several years ago does not mean I don't donate money to humanitarian organizations. To imply I'm forgetting people because I give my dog a biscuit or two is quite arrogant. I find this question highly insulting and damned rude.

I support :
red cross
unicef
ncdl
and the local dogs trust

Can't afford to support any more. Don't assume people put dogs before children.

Thanks xx
