I have suffered with rosacea for several years and have been to no less than four dermotologists. Prescribed creams and lotions do not seem to do much, if any, good.

Hi I have suffered with rosacea for a few years now and I am lucky the metrogel and antibiotics (Minocycline) have worked for me. What also helps is always washing my face in cold water...staying out of the sun. Finding a skin care product that works (I use Oil of Olay sensitive skin wash and moisturizer) Also simple things like not scrubbing your face to hard can help. And be careful what products you put on your face (makeup etc.) Good luck. Oh and there are no CURES for rosacea just things that may help relieve or improve the symptoms.

I've had rosacea for over 15 years. Unfortunately, there is no cure. My doctor gave me a prescription for Rosasol. It contains metronidazole 1% plus a sunscreen. So far it's working to keep my rosacea in check.

While there is no cure, there are things you can do to help keep it controlled. Here are a few tips:

Wash your face gently with a good cleanser that's not harsh. I use Cetaphil. It's great for sensitive skin. There are others that are good too. Use lukewarm water to wash. Hot water aggravates rosacea. So does scrubbing with a facecloth.

Always use sunscreen when outdoors. Sunlight is a trigger for rosacea.

There are many different triggers. Each person with rosacea reacts differently to things. Try to find out what yours are. Check the website listed in the source box for tips and triggers.

There is no known cure for rosacea. The goal is to identify and avoid possible triggers, and thus reduce flare-ups. In fact, the National Rosacea Society strongly recommends that you keep a symptom diary to identify the specific triggers you may have. As you keep track of your symptoms, you should start to see a pattern within several weeks of what makes your rosacea worse. Use this information to avoid future flare-ups.

Here are some steps that may help:

Avoid sun exposure. Use sunscreen every day.
Avoid prolonged exertion in hot weather.
Try to reduce stress. Try deep breathing, yoga, or other relaxation techniques.
Limit spicy foods, alcohol, and hot beverages.

Triggers vary from person to person. Other triggers may include wind, hot baths, cold weather, specific skin products, exercise, or other factors.

Oral antibiotics (such as tetracycline, minocycline, or doxycycline) or topical antibiotics (like metronidazole) applied to your face may control skin eruptions. Other medications (isoretinol or Accutane), which are similar to vitamin A, are stronger alternatives that your doctor or dermatologist might consider.

In severe cases, laser surgery may help reduce the redness. Surgical reduction of enlarged nose tissue , if you so choose.

goodluck to you
