Because Bush only needs to hold on until the oil contracts are signed. Then America needs to keep only enough troops to enforce those contracts. So Iraq is working exactly as it was planned.

Whether its right or wrong, we have to look at history. We pulled out of Viet Nam and look what happened. We left Somalia under Clinton, and look what happened. So, do we cut and run or do we rewrite the play book to win??
I say we have two things going on right now. The terrorists are staying pretty busy trying to tear Iraq and to a certain extent, Afganistan apart and they are too busy to mess around with the USA over here.
Rewrite the play book, give the Iraqi government 6 months to get their act together. Go on a mass trianing mission and at the same time, a kill a terrorist misson, and then give them their country at the end of six months.
Let them know that if we have to come back, it wont be a pretty sight. Anytime America has done something half way, we paid for it in lives lost needlessly.
Lets do it right and bring our troops home holding their heads up high for a job well done.

I never supported Bush's order to go to war. However, I don't agree with an immediate withdraw. I don't believe there is only two choices leave now or stay an indefinite amount of time.
I think that we should try to stabilize the country as much as possible over the next three years. This includes military protection, training, etc. more of whats being done now but more effectively. But we also need to reach the youth to discontinue the cycle of hate of America. A educated country is more likely to be productive.

For the same reasoning, used in Nam, Stupidity, for some reason we do things bass ackwards, like backing Castro against Batista in Cuba, and Kennedy almost getting the world blown up with Nukes there, millions of cubans in florida and all over the us, why because our government says, our way or the highway, and also not going into Iran when they held all our people hostage, and for some reason we seem to always back the wrong people or do the wrong thing but then have to suck on it, people think the world hates us, but in reality, they hate the president and the government in general, even if you voted the other way we have to live and die with the rich who want power, when is the last time you saw some one with $20,000. in the bank run for anything but dog catcher.........................

Because that would involve admitting an errror, and that's something political partisans are absolutely unwilling to do. It's as if they're fans of a sports team, not people looking for the best answer to a problem.

Because what we are doing _is_ working.
If you do not know what the trends are in Iraq - then you only have yourself to blame.

DING!!! You're right!! Welcome to the force fed insanity of the Evil Empire.
Unfortunately, all we simple peons can do is strap on our seatbelts, and brace ourselves for impact. Our fearless "leaders", know best, even if it has breached the border of insanity.
