I have Turbo Tax Deluxe 2001 and Turbo Tax Deluxe 2002, don't ask why. I don't know anything about them so i don't know if the 2001 version has something the 2002 version doesn't or it has something better. Is there any point of keeping the 2001 version?

I'm not gonna be purchasing any other tax software anytime in the future so if i were to do taxes w/ tax software, should i even use any of them? (seeing as how they're 4-5 years old)

The tax rules and rates change from year to year so your old versions are useless. Make sure you print the hard copies for your tax year, uninstall the program, and get rid of the program and your computer backup information. You should get a new version each year and keep the receipts because you can claim the cost for the software for tax preparation. The 2001 and 2002 and even 2005 software is obsolete. 2006 is around the corner!!!

Tax software is only good for the tax year marked on the box. Turbo Tax 2001 is only for tax year 2001. If you decide to do your 2006 taxes on your computer, you'll need to buy a copy of Turbo Tax 2006.

If you used TTD 2001 and TTD 2002 to do your taxes for those years, you'll need the programs if you ever have a need to print a copy of those returns, assuming that you still have the data files on your computer. If this isn't the case, just go ahead and toss them; they're worthless.

If I were you, I would use the TurboTax website to prepare your taxes. They have some special offers throughout tax season. I would not use the old software to prepare your taxes as tax laws and amounts have changed in the last five years. Get rid of both software packages, and invest in new software for this year's taxes or use the website.

No, you should not use that software. It is programmed with the tax information that was in effect for those tax years and would be miserably out of date if you tried to do taxes for another year with them. They're pretty useless except to someone who needs to do an amendment for one of those years, which is unlikely because they are beyond the statute of limitations.

In short, it's only good for the tax year stated. Toss them or put them on eBay.

If you've done your taxes online, then turbotax stores your information for you.
you might have to buy the 07 version. I would not keep the older ones.
