but they ARE closer. i am sure they wish you were there, just as you wish you were too... it is reality. how can you not understand that? i am so much closer to my daughter, who lives 20 miles away from me..because we can still experience life together, than with my son who lives 3000 miles away. We hardly speak and when we do its an occasion! but its not the same as us being together. i must say that i love him not one iota less. i just share more memories with my daughter and her kids than with him and his! and boy, do i wish he were here...i haven't seen him in 5 years. and you can only assume they wish you were there hanging out with them...you sound a bit guilty for not being there. just accept their stories and make your own, happy family, where ever YOU are. blessings

I can sooooooo relate to this! Whenever they start with the "aren't we cute and wonderful" stories smile and say something like, "that's great it reminds me of ____", and then go off on a story of your own. Or you could say, "oh, I have to run, maybe some other time?", and just leave. If you do things like that every time they'll get the message.
My condolences. It's unfortunate we can't choose our families.

if its your moms love you seek then talk to her or adopt attitudes that will make her fond of you like getting in touch more times to leave a mark on her mind. gifts also work but not as visitation.dialogue is the best way to solve issues
you dont necessarily have to tell them dat. you just have to put on a sturn face whenever they raise such issues.

I am sure you don't hear about all their falling outs either, if you lived close to them , you would be drawn in on every little spat and they do happen, be thankful and realize you are an adult and life promises you nothing. if they are trying to encite jealousy in you , they are telling you they miss your being involved and are trying to draw you back in, it's a compliment of sorts.

rethink your ? because you sound like jealous i think instead of you saying you dont want to hear the stories focus on things you would like to do with each of them separate or together

Holly, It's only natural. Just let them know, they're probably doing it without second intentions.

Pretty much like that, Holly. You can tell them that it disturbs you and makes you homesick when they go on and on...If they're heartless, they will continue and YOU will know what their motivation is!

you don't- you tell them you envy the closeness of their relationship and regret that you live so far away.
then you try to be happy for them...
