Me, I really have a problem with that "I didn't allow them to deport me" bit. Does anyone else feel like that?

kobecker - there is no sanctuary whatsoever in churches in the US. In fact....
In fact it is a crime for any person who "knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, conceals, harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation"
and the penalty is "in the case of a violation of subparagraph (A)(ii), (iii), (iv), or (v)(II), be fined under title 18, imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both"
Federal Immigration and Nationality Act
Section 8 USC 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv)(b)(iii)

Hold em Rox - I completely agree and think we need to write our congressmen. Apparently a SECOND individual bill is pending that would let her stay. ICE is hiding behind 'she is no more important than any of the other 500,000 warrants out there' but they aren't calling national media to a church saying they 'didn't allow' us to deport them.

Is anyone else just flat out sick of her ?? I have big issues with that statement and I read the article, I honestly don't know what these people who are supporting her think is going to happen ? This woman is nothing but a Criminal !! Sorry but it's true.
So by her logic all mothers who get in trouble with the law shouldn't have to go to jail because of their kids. Let that be known to all now.
I said it in another post...the longer they wait...the more problematic it's going to become.

Well I hope she is planning on spending the rest of her life in that church, wearing the same clothes ect. ect. Does she not realize that santuary(sp?) is only valid until you leave the church?? Didn't she watch The Hunchback Of NotreDame?? Ha Ha!!
I think they should go in and get her, put her in handcuffs and give her a lift to the border along with her buddies.
If she had her child(ren) here, and they are old enough, give them the decision to go with her or stay here.
That's what SHOULD happen when you come here to have an anchor baby. Baby can stay,, YOU GO HOME!!!
Michelle, You must be an anchor baby, You seem to be all for the people that are breaking our laws. If you are not, Then you must not be proud of your country,(America) to allow people to disrespect it. Or maby your not here legally?

Just another self involved, self serving law breaker. And the pastor has some kind of rebelious history as well dosen't he? Not for social justice per se, but kind of a self promoter.
And the media eats this stuff up! Do a story on some legal former Mexican who waited in line and did th eright thing, asn ask them how they feel about people jumping ahead of them in line by sneaking in. And how they feel about having to support them through their taxes if they are employed?
That's a story!

I think she is a crack pot. What does her immigration problems have to do with God and country? Where was God in her when she broke all those laws her past catches up with her now she is doing everything to shower attention around the son. I don't think ICE will accommodate her she want have the great raid she envisions. You never hear her say yes I broke the law for that I am sorry. She forgets that area of it.

Yes, I think that's the height of NERVE.
Nobody ever said that God wants us to allow the guilty to continue doing what they are doing.
There are laws to control the immigration of people from other countries, and if they can't abide by those laws, then they are guilty. The police should arrest the pastor of that church for harboring a criminal, and then just go in and get her, and let the pastor pray with her while they transport her to where she came from. This is ridiculous.

I have similar problems with the statement. I also take offense to her being able to hole up in a church. I believe law enforcement has a duty to arrest her regardless of her location.
Does the church have some special immunity. This sounds very much like a political act to me, if so then they should be paying taxes like the rest of us poor slobs.
I bet if the church was threatened with taxation she would be out of there in a minute.

sanctuary only last until the person leave the church. She said that she isn't afraid but she is. this is why she ran to the church. Another is: I beleive there is a law that prohibit giving sanctuary to someone who commited a fellony. And this lady did commited on when she use a SS number that wasn't her.

That's horse****. She had her kids here so they could be citizens. We need to change that law. If you parents are on a temporary visa or you are illegal you ARE NOT AMERICAN. Her kids should not be US citizens. That cheapens everything that hard working LEGAL immigrants do. Her *** needs to be ripped out of that church and sent home along with the COMMUNITY that is helping her. Ever American should have a problem with her flaunting criminal activity.
