We are a public school parent group and have a donor that demands multiple public acknowledgments of their
and likes to throw their weight around because they donate. The donor has become very obnoxius and I believe not worth the trouble of the donation but realize that we need to do what's best for the organization. Any thoughts?

I would weigh up whether the amount they donate is significant or not.... if it is significant ti would not hurt to repeatedly acknowledge their contriubution if it is an ongoing donation.... if however it is a once only contribution.... then a once only acknowldgement is all the is required...

You could kill a few birds with one stone so to speak and speak to your local council, 'green' organisation, or local plant nurseries to get some free trees......

Get the kids involved in a 'greening program' and dedicate a tree to all major donors to the school.....

this green up the school... gets the kids involved in greening the environment and learning about trees and how they grow.... and has the added advantge of providing an ongoing ackowledgement to the donors to the school.... and remember to dedicate some trees to whoever it was who provied the trees...

What ya reckon cool or what??

You should try and acknowledge ALL donors - not just obnoxious ones.

Print it on the back of a program or such, and list EVERYONE who gave ANYTHING - don't distinguish by amount. (You can even include those who donate their TIME. Heaven knows time is valuable - I don't have enough!) Explain to your irritating patron that this was decided upon to be the most fair. Since donations are given for the good of the cause, you want to encourage everyone who can donate to donate what they can.

Keep it like that for a while - hopefully, unless they are oblivious enough to start telling people how much they donated, they will pipe down. (And you might prep some people to respond that they think it is tacky to discuss.)

Best of luck!

I agree with you that his donations are not worth the aggravation and is not good for the organization and his donations should be declined!@
