Unless he is your boss or something, it should be fine. I would take it slow and make sure no one else at work knows unless things get to the point of getting engaged. Be a little cautious in approaching him because, as you know, Japanese society isn't always accepting of outsiders. He may like you but worry how he would ever introduce you to his family. If others from work found out, they might think that you are easy or that one or the other of you is using the other. Just keep in mind that it is much like entering an interracial relationship in this country in the 1970s. People know they need to accept it but sometimes have a hard time.

you must prepair yourself, culture is different, asian man is quit conservative but they take care girl. So what r u waiting for? try to find chance to talk to him, him might tinhk the same way and ask you you out (don ask him out yourself let him do it ).
