Before you go about trying to cure this on your own, I would recommend seeing your doctor and seeing if they can possibly do an MRI on your back and make sure nothing is wrong, especially if you have a history of back pain in the family. My father had the same problem and was diagnosed with pagents disease at about you age. I just recently found out I have the makings of having it later on. My Dad just had to have surgery on his back and have metal rods inserted. Anyway, go see you Doctor and ask first. Chronic back pain is nothing to fool around with and could be a sign of something else. You doc can per scribe meds for this problem and give you a page of exercises for your back that you can do. I hope all is well and Good Luck!

Aftera quick trip to your MD to make sure nothing else is going on, a visit to the local chiropractor should fix you up. You will also need to look at your bed at home. Too soft will cause issues and too firm will too. You need the support of a firm matress, but some softness to contour to your body.
Back pain from stress, sitting long hours or sleeping on a matress that is not right for you, can lead to chronic low back pain and sciatica. Most MD's want to give you drugs, but most of the time, a good adjustment will do the trick.

Well, I got a Select Comfort matteress. Best money I have ever spent and I see a chiropractor for my back pain. I do stretches and exercises.
It is a good idea to take Calcium everyday anyhow.
Good Luck!

We have a rather firm Sterns & Foster with a very cushy pillow top so it's the best of both worlds. I would love to sleep on a super soft feather bed like my grandparents had but my poor aging back would not like that one bit.

my suggestion is see a chiropractor or a massage therapist tell them about your ache and even what type of bed you sleep on . calcium is good to take even if you dont have aches also ask the massage therapist about exercise , im not sure but maybe yoga because it stretches your boby would help. nothing strenous at first , also check out new bed . hope you feel better

Exercise, go to a chiropractor, (they should also show you good stretches to do), and get a good quality mattress. I personally like a semi firm mattress with a nice soft cover.

Sometimeds back pain may signal heart problem. Or you are feeling the effects of getting older. I have chronic back pain only from two injuries. One upper and one lower. Lower is the worst. Get heart checked!

Please see a doctor or a chiropractor and get professional advice. Chronic backache needs professional help, not the help of those of us who can give you 'try this' approach. Good luck and take it from one who knows, you need to speak with a health care professional.
