Put 3 apples on each side the first time. The side that weighs more has the 6 gram-er. If neither side weighs more, you know it is one of the two remaining. If there was a difference, pick any two of the three apples from the heavy side. If they weigh the same, you know it is the last one. If one weighs more.... bingo!

Simple. You put four apples on one side of the scale and four apples on the other. The heavier side has the six gram apple on it. Take the four on the heavier side and weigh them two on one side, two on the other. The heavier side has the six gram apple. At that point you take one apple off each side. If the the scale will tip if the six gram apple is on it. If the scale doesn't tip, you are holding the six gram apple.

Group the apples into 4 before weighing them. At least you have better chances of knowing which group does that 6-gram apple belong. That's the best way I can do it.

put three apples on each side....the side dat wieghs more has the six gram one. take the three lighter ones off. then of the three heavier ones, u leave one on the scale, one on the other side of the scale and one aside. if the scale is even then the third one on the side is the one that weighs six grams, if not its the heavier of the 2 on the scale (obviously) I know its confusing, but it will work
